I really don’t have much personal experience to back his up, but in movies, TV shows, and commercials, except in office settings (sometimes), people are always seen using a laptop. I really don’t like laptop keyboards or their small screens. I own a laptop for traveling, but I bought a wireless desktop keyboard to use with it. I really don’t want one full time, but are trends changing?
Maybe some of you more in touch with the computer retail world can enlighten me.

I use a desktop. Desktop computers generally outperform laptops.

Desktop computers are certainly better for gaming.

I am using a laptop right now. I don't hope for desktops to become obsolete but one of the advantages of laptops is that on top of being portable, you can still set them on a desk and connect a mouse if touchpads aren't your thing.
The one thing I do miss about desktops (and some older laptops) is the DVD drive which fewer of the new PCs have.

I suppose that it could be said of the technological world, that what is introduced next week, will be "on it's way out," the week after.
I, too, prefer my PC desktop to laptops/phones. Like Mikef6, I prefer a standard keyboard, on which I can type rapidly, and comfortably. The laptop keyboard is irritatingly small ... and, I hate "texting," on the tiny phone pad. (Although, laptops/phones are convenient for travel.)
The desktop that I have now is about 10 years old. I do recall that, when I bought it, there were fewer to choose from than in my earlier shopping efforts. However, the reason may be that, over time, the more popular brands survived, over the less popular. I haven't looked at "the market," for a long while. I hope they are here for the long haul.

I hope not. I'm typing this using a desktop computer. I like the wide monitor and keyboard. I only use a laptop when I'm at work.

I hate laptops Well put.......I don't own a smart phone, and though I do have a tablet and laptop, I almost never use them, but am on my desktop EVERY day (and paid extra to have a blu-ray drive to be able to access all my tv shows/films discs on it), and watch (pretty much) ALL my TV and streaming content there......... SAVE FERRIS

"Normal" Keyboard and monitor run by a laptop .. would that count as a hybrid ?
Have noticed that the laptops in films and tv are usually of the Apple persuasion when a logo is shown. Paid product placement ?
