This will be one weird December - there is also this gritty action comedy coming up with David Harbour as Santa Claus.

Yeah me too, but this looks more fun. It was a lot of fun as a trailer, but I have some doubts that it'll be as good when stretched out to feature length. But like you I'm more encouraged than I would be by yet another slasher Santa movie.

Just saw this. Pretty weak. It looks a little more professional than I would have thought, but the writing that insists it's extremely clever really isn't all. There's a voice over that suppose to sound like Anthony Hopkins reading Dr. Suess but the rhyming is really weak and most of the little references to the Grinch or Dr. Suess are really on the nose and not very funny (there's character that looks like Santa who says his name is Mathias Zuess, but everyone calls me Doc... ok we get, then the other character has to spell it out for us, when he says 'Hey, Matthias, i mean, doc... uh, Doctor Zuess')
The guy who plays Art the clown does what he can with this grinch knockoff, but the makeup is clearly just one of those appliances that you can buy online. It's not made for this movie or for his face so it doesn't really movie. It looks more like a mask than makeup. There's more CGI than I would have guessed in a movie at this low budget level, but some of it isn't all that bad.
It's a one joke premise that could have worked as a short or a sketch, but it's not made by people who can sustain this for a 90 minute runtime. Some of the actors are ok, but nobody stands out, and the locations and seasonal imagery can only carry it so far. Some fun kills and blood bathory, but it's not all well done, and that doesn't make up for the lame writing anyway.
