Funny Thanksgiving sequence in GIANT (1956) as Liz Taylor's young children realize that roasted turkey on the dining room table is their beloved pet 'Pedro' -- and they react accordingly.

My favorite Thanksgiving is from a TV sitcom. No not WKRP, but Cheers, "Thanksgiving Orphans"

Where it all began. So historically accurate that The Mayflower is listed in the credits as being played by “Itself”.

My favorite Thanksgiving is from a TV sitcom. No not WKRP, but Cheers, "Thanksgiving Orphans" However, WKRP's "Turkey Drop" needs a shoutout. I remember watching it when first aired and the whole family, even my humorless sister, laughing our asses off.
"As God as my witness, I thought turkey's could fly." Gordon Jump (Arthur Carlson) delivered that line with such conviction. Almost like Doug MacArthur saying "Old Soldiers never die..."

This is a film from 2003 and does not fit the OP's restriction of "pre-1970 BUT it is a fun depiction of a Thanksgiving Feast potentially from hell and is well worth seeking out for a lightweight movie to watch while digesting one's own Thanksgiving feast!
