Black Adam wasn't goofy fun, unless family massacres by evil kings, burnt bodies and torn apart demons pass for Jonah Hill these days. You need to learn the meaning of words.

There was no real desire for a Black Adam movie. Probably Dwayne just wanted to get a piece of some of the superhero action and because he kinda looks like Black Adam (or did when he had hair) thought that should be it. He should let things happen organically. With his star power he just had to express his desire to do a superhero film and be patient. Something would have come his way.

He was attached to play Black Adam since 2007. That’s about as patient as it gets.

There was interest in a Black Adam movie, certainly more than there was for the first GOTG or Antman movies. Maybe even more interest than Shazam or Flash. Problem is the movie just wasn't that good. Black Adam is a fairly well-known character in DC and The Rock is one of the most well known Hollywood stars, so it wasn't a lack of interest that killed this movie. Sometimes a movie is just bad. Let's not make excuses for it.

Black Adam was definitely not a well known character among the general public, unless they played the Injustice games, and even then, he’s not a major character in those.

Black Adam was about as well known as Ironman prior to their respective movies. Not known to the general public but definitely well-known to the comicbook audience.

Was he a character that your grandparents would mention in conversation? Probably not but they weren't the target audience. If not a lot of people knew Black Adam prior to the movie then even less people knew who Guardians of the Galaxy were. You can't have it both ways on who knew what.

He was certainly better known to the public than Black Adam. However, if "Black Adam" had been a better movie it would not have mattered.

Dwayne Johnson being the biggest action star in an era devoid of action stars doesn't make him a great action star.

Iron Man at least had a Saturday morning cartoon, and also made some appearances on the 90’s Spider-Man show. Black Adam had made multiple appearances in the JLA cartoons... which was a lot more recent. He also appeared in a few animated DC movies. So like I said, they were roughly similar in terms of popularity. But even if we say IM was somewhat more popular, surely you can't claim that GOTG or Dr. Strange were more popular than Black Adam, so it's proof that simply being unknown is not a reason to not be successful.

Which JL cartoons was he in? I don’t recall him being in the DCAU. The GotG certainly weren’t more well known than Black Adam, but as for Doctor Strange, that’s debatable.
