Gooble, gobble, one of us, one of us.
A remarkable horror film that wasn't appreciated in its time.

Seen twice and liked it. I believe there is about half an hour footage that got lost but still they were able to make a coherent story. It's awesome how the 'freaks' bonded. It really manages well to root for the deformed and wish the worst for those 2 greedy bastards. Therefore a very satifying end.

The two little people who played Franz and his girlfriend were real life brother and sister. Now THAT'S creepy!

It freaked me the hell out.
I did think it was a pretty interesting bit of film making.

The two little people who played Franz and his girlfriend were real life brother and sister. Now THAT'S creepy! Creepy that their parents had at least 2 dwarf children or that the story actually hinted they ended up as lovers? I guess that's why we never see them kissing though. Both played Munchkins in the Wizard of Oz (1939)

I believe there is about half an hour footage that got lost but still they were able to make a coherent story. Yes, apparently a good deal of footage was cut before the film was released due to it being too disturbing. One of the cut scenes (no pun intended) featured Hercules (the strongman) singing with falsetto voice at the end of the movie implying that he had been castrated by the freaks. In the cut version, we never do learn of his fate, only that he was attacked and presumably killed by the avenging freaks. But, no, apparently, they spared his life but punished him by taking away his manhood.

It would be too disturbing even for most people by today's standards.

I gotta question anyone who's freaked out about this movie today.
I enjoyed it. I don't think you'll find any other film filled with so many real human oddities.

My husband and I watched it on Turner Classic Movies, and we liked it. It did have a satisfying ending, didn't it? My husband bought the dvd.
