That’s fine. It obviously didn’t effect Robocop negatively. Since you also brought up Alien, I would have to imagine that if that movie came out today, you guys would be calling it “woke” as well, what with the fact that it has a female lead who isn’t particularly feminine. Ellen Ripley is feminine. In the first movie she has to find inner strength and overcome fears to survive. She isnt like Vazquez, who was portrayed as tough and fearless on the outside from the start. And in Aliens, Ripley displays a strong maternal instinct for Newt, something which modern Hollywood shys away from when trying to depict ''strong female characters''.

Modern Hollywood not only has the tendency to make every female character a Vazquez, they put it into the dialog as well. There has to be a conversation about how she's a strong woman. I think the only time gender is even discussed in Aliens is the classic exchange between Vazquez and Hudson. "Hey Vazquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?" "No, have you?" And Ripley's maternal instinct is also explored a bit more in the deleted scene involving her now deceased daughter.

There are no diversity quotas for directing and writing staff, they're just trying to counteract the people who only get jobs because of their family connections and nepotism.
Scifi wasn't better 35 years ago, a lot of stuff back then would be called SJW propaganda now like Aliens and Predator.
That doesn't quite ring true with what I have heard from people I know who do or have worked in the entertainment industry. Nothing about Aliens or Predator would be called social justice warrior propaganda unless you had to do a complete rewrite of either film from scratch. I've heard from people I know as well, and nothing they say says anything about diversity quotas in writing and directing. Except maybe reasonable stuff like "Women can write women better than old men can".
Predator has tough nonwhite characters as tough as the white male lead, which makes it "forced diversity" and Aliens is about a tough women sticking it to idiot white men who caused a disaster. SJW.

Dude, name a character from a recent film who is actually good who was criticised by the anti-woke crowd. And I don’t mean a few tweets out of millions.

Oh, and Denzel Washington doing the MacBeth movie. That got criticized. Before anyone knew anything about the movie.
Prey as well. The Anti-Wokes were up in arms about that till it came out and they had to delete their old stuff before anyone realized they were idiots.

Was Batman woke? Is it because the Riddler weaponized the movie version of 4chan and got a bunch of QAnon like folks to take up arms against Gotham?

I don't recall anyone ever criticizing Shang-Chi for forced diversity, at least not as far as racial diversity was concerned.

www.cbr.com/wednesday-season-2-improve-black-latine-writers-netflix/Hiring writers who understand in ways old white writers wouldn't. Sounds fine.
Keeping outdated writers is what creates stories like "Trigger Warning" by William Johnstone and J A Johnstone.

Whats with you and “old” people? Sounds pretty ageist to me.

That element was quite woke but no one cares because it’s a pretty good film. So all social commentary is “woke”? The Dark Knight touches pretty heavily on the Bush era domestic spying. Is that woke too?

Is that woke too? If I recall correctly that spying was used by Batman to bring down the Joker so it wasn’t necessarily critical of it. Art can explore the moral complexity of issues without coming to any definitive conclusions.

I haven’t seen Wednesday but it seems to be doing alright, unlike many other Netflix misfires of late. Go on, ruin another franchise for the woke religion.

It has a pretty clear statement on the matter. They make a point of Bruce allowing Lucius to destroy it. The message is: don’t make this a normal thing because it’s too dangerous. A lot of Batman’s actions are deliberate parallels to American policy of the era. It is nuanced for sure, but then again how can one make a nuanced statement about online lunatic conspiracy nuts? There isn’t really a legitimate counterpoint there unless you’re one of them.

Yep, it had a black Gordon and Catwoman and there were no complaints (if you search hard enough there may be the odd racist or troll but it was not in any way an issue). Diverse casting in itself is not an issue.

You seem to be conflating right wingers with fans of DC. That makes no sense.
