I remember seeing a doc years ago on cable. Probably HBO, but I could be wrong. I feel like the timeframe is the 2000s or early 2010s. If I recall correctly, the director (who is seen onscreen on the doc) had a brother who committed suicide, which was his inspiration to make the doc. Two scenes I remember: 1) They show a class for (I think) people training to be 911 operators, in which graphic photos of suicides are shown; 2) I remember scene where they talk to the family of a young black man who was found hanging in a park. I believe this had happened in the wake of the OJ Simpson verdict, and the family was convinced that the man has been murdered by angry racists as "retaliation" for Simpson being found not guilty.

Was the brother young when he committed suicide? It was HBO. I remember catching it while on vacation with my ex. I was cooking dinner. Not really something I'd normally watch, but it grabs you.

I don't remember anything about the brother other than that he committed suicide. I might try to find other sites to post on. I'll come back and leave the title here if I find it.
