My guess is they’re just not canceling projects they’ve dumped a ton of money into. Why they didn’t announce yet that Ezra is out as Flash… they’re waiting until the box office money is in. I know they were going to release all the remaining DCEU movies, but thought it was going to die off. That clip makes it sound like he's including them. I really doubt it. They just don’t want the negative press of cancelling them to overshadow their new plan right now.

Now how does Swamp Thing get a movie and Green Lantern gets a tv show? I guess they're still smarting from the Ryan Reynolds movie's poor reception. But that was thirteen years ago WB, jesus let it go.

Everything we’ve heard about the DCU so far sounds like an unwieldy and confusing mess that’s only going to exacerbate the feeling of superhero fatigue. And why exactly do we need video games and cartoons set in the DCU?

And why exactly do we need video games and cartoons set in the DCU? I don’t think we need tv shows either. Honestly I think Marvel already proved what a bloated mess the “multi-platform” media model is. Just make good movies. Stop trying to “expand” into other forms of media.

Well they have a plan at least. Whether or not it's going to be has yet to be seen, but i guess we'll find out when their stuff finally comes out.
I do think it's cool that Video Games will be part of it. I've been saying for years that Marvel Studios should be doing that as a little bonus content on the side, like how Star Wars told canonical stories through Video games.

Sure, it's chapter 1 of whatever they're doing now. We'll see if it will be anything worth watching once we actually start seeing footage of it. I feel like people are just hating on this because it's been popular for so long to hate on DC. I'm not expecting this to surpass Marvel, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Marvel needs like an actual competitor for once. And I'm hoping we'll see the start of one.

He specifically says The Flash resets the DCU. It’s all carefully crafted marketing. They’re not gonna tell you the franchises are finished before the next movies come out. Plus they saw how vocal angry Cavil fans were. They didn’t want the headlines today to read “Aquaman Cancelled”. I can all but guarantee you that Mamao and Miller are not going to be part of the new canon.

WHAT is chapter 1? Creature Commandos, which he called the first DCU project or Superman Legacy, which he called the real beginning? No wait, the remaining DCEU movies are now DCU and will come out before any of those projects.

Everyone knows those franchise are finished - they've fired Cavill, Gadot, and are not using the term DCEU anymore. They're releasing movies for a cancelled universe.

Everything we’ve heard about the DCU so far sounds like an unwieldy and confusing mess that’s only going to exacerbate the feeling of superhero fatigue. And why exactly do we need video games and cartoons set in the DCU? I definitely agree with this. I myself who by all means should be a lot more familiar with such things than the average cinema goer...still doesn't really get what's going on. So this isn't a complete full on reset is it? I think they said as much. Isn't The Flash movie going to practically end the DCEU and then start the DCU? But then of course there's still two other movies coming out after The Flash. They've also announced Waller which is supposed to be a spin off of Peacemaker so things like that is a part of it but not other things? They've said some characters are going to be recast but then others not? Are they picking and choosing what counts and what doesn't count toward the DCU? I mean if they were going to do this I'd rather the whole thing have ended with The Flash resetting everything back to zero so it could all start completely fresh. And I certainly don't want no cartoons, games or TV shows to be a part of it. Just a simple straightforward set of movies is all I'd have wanted.

So they are doing TWO Batman series at once? Well even more confusing still is we now have a "The Batman" series where the new Joker is likely to appear in the sequel. A DCU series of Batman which will almost certainly one day have its own Joker. And then of course they're still making a sequel to the 2019 Joker which comes out in 2024 and could continue as a series itself.

I'm not sure they can pull off a believable Batman in a live action JL movie. He seemed outclassed in JL. I never understood the appeal of Batman in the Justice League for this reason. The character loses everything that makes him interesting when he’s taken out of the context of his own mythology. Batman funds the JLA who else is? That's how he buys his way into the team and his genius intellect. There's been thousands of Batman movies yet people still don't a have a clue about the character. Maybe more Batman films are needed after all.

The Justice League TV show did a good job of working in Batman, and I can sort of see him working with Superman—one bit of science fiction in an otherwise relatively realistic universe—but in general, yeah, the character works best without the sci-fi/superhuman stuff. (Yes, I know realistic is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.) Several of Batman's villains are superhuman.
