I’m just gonna say it; James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for the DCU sound confusing, overwhelming and tedious. It sounds like they’re doing way too much in such a short amount of time, and I think introducing yet another Batman is a terrible idea. Why exactly are we getting a Batman movie with Damian Wayne set in the DCU, while the Matt Reeves universe is still a thing? That’s just going to dilute the brand. I’m not saying I wish for the DCU to fail, but I can’t bring myself to get excited for it, and I think it’s arriving too late in the game to really work. People finally seem to be getting exhausted from all the Marvel content they have to keep track of, so I don’t see how the DCU will manage to overcome that problem. It’s been nearly 11 years since The Avengers came out. The concept of a shared cinematic universe is not a remotely novel concept anymore. I do appreciate that we’re finally getting a new Superman movie, but I would’ve much preferred if they had just made it a standalone thing with no connections to a larger DC universe, like the Matt Reeves Batverse. Thank you for coming to my TED talk

I don't think people (besides folks like us) are actually gonna care about the whole 'two Batmen' thing. Maybe that's just me.

I don't think people (besides folks like us) are actually gonna care about the whole 'two Batmen' thing. Maybe that's just me. I feel like it’s the opposite. People who are more informed of comic books and Elseworlds stories might be more ok with two Batman, but I feel like general audiences are just going to be confused. When they did test screenings for the Batgirl movie, one of the complaints from test audiences was that they were confused why Michael Keaton’s Batman was there.

A few months ago I would’ve been all over yesterdays announcement.
I haven’t even looked into it in full yet. Meh.

I really wished DC planned this out better from the start. Man of Steel was decent enough to build a modern-day DC universe from. The rest was just execution and making quality films.
Regardless, I'm glad we are getting another Superman film.

They've a huge gift with MCU fatigue treading dangerously close to no return. That’s not a gift. If people are getting fatigued by the MCU, they’re getting fatigued by superheroes in general.

For me, a well written fresh take on Superman is finer than Dr. Strange hopping around candylands & purgatories with side characters I've zero interest in at all.

You can't fix the DCU if you're not willing to take drastic measures. Pattman has to go. Sorry not sorry. I loved The Batman too. We cannot have three Batman universes. Joker 2? Gotta go. One vision. One universe. That's it. Sadly, this is already fucked.
