JOKER, The Dark Knight, and even The Batman have already exceeded anything the MCU has done. Not really, no. Yes really, yes. As far as "connected" films go, LOTR was more critically acclaimed, and AVATAR more financially successful. So they still lose, even in that category.

The MCU's beaten all of them, and didn't need to sell out to do it.
Yes, sell-out. Go for that creatively bankrupt "grounded" approach that nearly destroyed comics. Or give control to a prima donna control freak like DC keeps doing.

You're not fooling anyone. If DC was so successful they wouldn't have been breaking their backs trying to imitate the MCU’s interconnected universe.

This is a BS comparison. ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy tells a single linear story in 3 separate films. That’s hardly an interconnected universe. Meanwhile, when you only count initial run, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is the highest-grossing film of all time.

We'll see how the reboot goes. It's possible that James Gunn could lead DC into a era where they dominate Marvel.

You're bringing me back to the time when the Nolanites were always going around trashing anything MCU related and going on about how BvS would "destroy every MCU film past present and future!"
Yeah, how did that hype work out?

JOKER, The Dark Knight, and even The Batman have already exceeded anything the MCU has done. I would agree that those are better films than any one particular movie within the MCU but I don't think they've exceeded the MCU as a whole.

And I’m not sure if ‘The Batman’ is actually better than literally every single MCU entries, if I’m being honest.

The Batman was a slow slog of a wannabe film noir, and had really stupid moments like no one including Batman ever wondering "Wait, how did Riddler take these photos?" and Riddler's plan ultimately being "I'm gonna mass murder a bunch of innocent people after doing nothing but taking out corrupt jerks!"

Joker was a film that resonated with people who have felt kicked around their whole lives fighting back through Joker but never for real, but wouldn't exactly call it a movie that would appeal to someone who hasn't been treated like shit their whole lives. Dark Knight isn't better than the Avengers movies or Winter Soldier but is level, Dark Knight is better than most non Avengers MCU movies though and the only one out of Joker and The Batman that is. The Batman is for people that think Poirot would be cool dressed as a giant bat with the lesbian in leather as wank material.

It’s a pity it went downhill from there.

And I’m not sure if ‘The Batman’ is actually better than literally every single MCU entries, if I’m being honest. Those movies are also far simpler to pull off. Yeah, they were done very well, but when you only have one lead character then it gets a lot easier than trying to juggle a dozen lead characters. Based on that, a spectacle like Infinity War is a far more impressive cinematic accomplishment.
