Funny how people act all offended at the idea of these books being REMOVED from schools, but they never ask how they got in there in the first place. That'd be like NOT wondering where the strange creepy guy who's been hiding in your attic for 6 months came from.

That'd be like NOT wondering where the strange creepy guy who's been hiding in your attic for 6 months came from. Most likely answer is that schools buy a bunch of books in bulk without necessarily vetting them. Since we're talking about funny things, it's funny that the same people who want to "protect our kids!" from "objectionable" material also want to make Bibles available in schools despite containing murder (including of children), prostitution, animal sacrifice, wars, the removal of the foreskin of enemies as a trophy, etc.

I didn’t know kids even read books anymore. Of the GOP gets their way, they won't be.

Remind me again, people who work at/for schools are supposed to be 'smart'? That'd be as smart as a library just buying a bulk of movies and putting Cannibal Holocaust, Come and See and Dahmer in the juvenile film section, identified by the pink teddy bear sticker, alongside Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig and The Parent Trap. Would that be a 'smart' move?
There used to be a video on YouTube of a mother who told a school board she would sue them if they tried to teach any woke stuff to her kids, she went on the record as being a homeless bisexual atheist, and even she could tell them 'there is no depiction of oral sex in the Bible', as someone who doesn't believe in God she didn't take issue with the Bible or anything in it, as a bisexual she didn't think it was appropriate, let alone necessary, that her school age children read porn of any kind. And we're back to the issue if anybody of any age is not ALLOWED to read these books out loud in front of the school board because it's inappropriate, and you wouldn't be allowed to give them to convicted rapists to read, and if you put the same content in an email it would be marked harmful material, and a random adult on the street giving the same book to the same kids would be arrested for soliciting and distributing, school kids have zero business reading them, and schools have zero business letting kids access them.

But meanwhile are the people worried 12 year olds can't read porn in school also bothered by classic fiction being censored because words pertaining to race, ethnicity or even fat, are offensive today?
And maybe the real question, how would they even KNOW if the books had been changed with the new censored PC editions? Oh, answer, they wouldn't, they just wanna virtue signal kids need to read porn.

Keep kids from reading books, and they'll just spend more time looking up porn on the internet, playing violent video games, and being influenced by TikTok. They're exposed to way more dangerous stuff on a daily basis that way than they'll ever find from a book. Books force a reader to process those ideas in some kind of context; electronic media just injects it directly into their brains. Today's school kids moan about their daily homework assignments of reading for 20 minutes a day, but they're allowed hours of screen time looking at all kinds of sketchy material by their parents at home, who allow it just to keep the kids quiet and out of their hair. The pandemic had a deleterious effect on the mental health of a lot of these kids, who were allowed even more screen time under the "care" of their parents. These kids can't or don't read ("Reading is borrring" is a frequently-used phrase, encouraged by parents who didn't want to make an effort), so they're in very little danger from books.

Then we're right back to violent x rated rape incest porn novels should be in every prison library, otherwise those inmates will just spend years watching TV and playing video games and sitting in their cells doing absolutely NOTHING with their lives, and besides 2/3 of them can't read either, that's a large part WHY they're in prison. But oh wait, the law says such materials are not ALLOWED in prisons for grown men who committed violent and sexual crimes to read. Why not? They're adults, there's NOTHING in those books they haven't seen or done themselves, it can't HARM them, but they are not allowed it. So if a rapist shouldn't have it, how is it going to benefit a 13 year old child who can't even get into an R rated movie alone? Now everybody says movies don't harm kids, but nobody's moved to abolish the rating system or the R restrictions on minors, and lump Human Centipede on the same DVD shelf as Paw Patrol, why not? It won't traumatize kids, it's not REAL.
