The Pied Piper (1986)Creepy stop-motion animation, ambitious art designs and an emotionally charged score standout in this dark, and distorted adaptation of ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’. A hypnotic expressionist masterwork. Fans of Jan Švankmajer (Alice, Little Otik) should dig this one. The 50min film is below.
WHOA !
What a masterpiece totally brilliant here .
IMPO - The best stop-motion animation short story
I ever watched and with a solid storyline message as well ( I certainly dig it ! ) .
This is the very first time I ever heard of
or seen this " lost treasure to me " here before too .
Thanks so very much lostinlimbo
for sharing this fine work with us here also .

So very late to the party, but I finally watched Halloween (2018).
I think seeing this so late might have played a part in my feeling that it was a slight disappointment as I've read so many things about it (including comments here) that there was little suspense to it for me.
I won't rehash what has been discussed many times before about it, but I will say I wish there was more of the atmospheric The-Shape-Lurking vibe that I so loved about the original.

Not a film... but a British horror comedy TV programme called "Psychoville".
I picked up both series on DVD in a charity shop last week. From the same people behind The League of Gentlemen, and Inside No 9.
I finished series 1 last night, and will start series 2 this evening after the football.
It riffs off many different horror films, and Alfred Hitchcock, etc.
It begins with a disparate group of 'interesting' characters each getting a letter stating 'I know what you did'
You know what you're getting is dark and laced with horror film nods with Pemberton and Shearsmith, and this hasn't disappointed 👍

"A Stranger is Watching" (1982)
Decent mainstream thriller from original "Friday the 13th" director Sean S. Cunningham. Not all that credible, but certainly watchable, especially with a typically great Rip Torn playing a truly loathsome villain.

I remember the newspaper ads making it look like a typical slasher movie, but that was definitely not the case.

is definitely worth viewing
and (IMPO) so crazy cool indeed with
great character development as well .
It was too bad that the show wasn't renewed for a third season especially since the storyline was really starting to take hold .
I actually watched this one way back
was still on the air about 5 years ago .
Thanks so much Father Jack for the reminder on this forgotten show too .

I really miss having both the Chiller channel and FearNet to choose from. Now I have neither.

" I really miss having both the Chiller channel and FearNet to choose from. Now I have neither. "
I totally agree with you here masterofallgoons ( and IMPO) it was 2 of the worst decisions ever made for cable TV also .
We certainly all lost out on these 2 quality fun channels
for movies ( or TV Shows ) to discover especially ones to see for the first time
or even many times as well .
Thanks so much masterofallgoons for your reply .

The Tenderness of the Wolves Nothing about this movie was enjoyable, but it definitely created a distinct mood and atmosphere. Kurt Raab plays a predator/vampire with conviction and is supported ably by a dilapidated vision of 1920s Germany. Despite the promise of typical vampire blood-sucking shenanigans, the movie was dry in more ways than one. 6/10

Thanks so much masterofallgoons for your reply . Me too. I dropped DishNetwork 2 years ago because they dropped Chiller. I got DirectTV because they had Chiller. Then soon after Chiller Channel ended operations. My luck!

Oh no gbone - what a total scam ( right ? ) !
I can never understand why these TV networks
have to shut down these certain channels
especially when these channels are really good
and working out well with most of it's viewers ( totally ridiculous and illogical indeed here ) .
I so agree with you here gbone .

I so agree with you here gbone . "A year-end ratings recap showed Chiller as ranked 127 out of 136 networks, averaging 36,000 viewers a night." All about viewers and money. Unfortunately, we were in the minority.

Then I guess " that's that " ( right ? ) gbone us real devoted minority viewers
haven't any say at all on this ( what a crock right ? ) .

for sharing this fine work with us here also . Glad you liked it mszanadu! My exact feelings too... I was blown away. So impressed by the animation details, especially those crazy scenes at the beginning in the market place . It was great to see a darker side to this children’s story, as I recently watched Jacques Demy’s whimsical take on the ‘The Pied Piper’ starring Donald Pleasence, John Hurt and Donovan as the piper. While the message is the same, they’re two very different extremes of the same story. Anyhow I only found out about the animated film last year through another movie website. It kept on popping up on my live stream of people watching it, or liking reviews of it. So it was a nice surprise when I finally got around to it the other day.

Again quite an excellent find here lostinlimbo .
I will also have to check out sometime the other " Pied Piper " story
with the all star cast of " Donald Pleasence, John Hurt and Donovan "
that you mentioned here as well .
Thanks so much for this other movie recommendation too .

Director Russell Mulcahy teams up again with Christopher Lambert in a somewhat decent low-budget serial killer thriller in the tradition of “Se7en” thematically and stylistically. Kind of predictable in its characters, plot reveals and dour setting, yet it had me engaged and Mulcahy’s style is clinical and lined with numerous grotesque shock moments brought upon by the killer’s work. Who by the way wears a very unsettling looking mask. Also stars Robert Joy, Leland Orser and David Cronenberg in a very small throwaway part as a priest.

Abominable (2006) starring Lance Henriksen, Dee Wallace and Jeffrey Combs. Pretty cool cast. The abominable snowman is delightfully homicidal. The whole thing seems like a remake of Rear Window with a yeti in the Raymond Burr role. It's free to watch on YouTube if anyone is interested.

I'm always up for a Sasquatch/Yeti type movie.
