Say like one parent is Christian and the other one isn’t . The Christian parent has to baptize their baby without the other parent knowing who is against it or doesn’t care for it enough to be part of it but would be mad if it happened without them knowing. What would be the “right” way of going about this ?
Also some might ask why these parents ended up together if they don’t religiously agree but let’s say they’re no longer together but still coparenting.

How do you think a Christian would feel if their other half snuck their baby off and had a Namakarana ceremony (the Hindu version of a baptism) performed on it without their consent?
Do you think they'd be "oh well, it doesn't really matter, does it?"?

If the other parent is an atheist then I suppose to them baptism is just a nonsense that the baby won't even remember and they may as well let it happen. I don't think the Christian parent should do it in secret though - that's bound to blow up.

I guess that depends on what they do to the baby.
I've never seen any point in baptizing babies. They are too young to actually choose Jesus as their Savior, and I don't buy that this ceremony will hold them over until then.

Most of religion and children is about indoctrinating them when they're too young to make a choice/decide what they want to do. Children (especially very young children) are hard wired to accept what their parents say without question. It's a survival process: "don't eat the those berries, they will kill you" "fire is hot and will hurt you" "that animal is dangerous and could kill you" "you have to worship god" If religion waited until children were older before it tried to introduce god to them then it wouldn't get very far, would it?

Like schools saying 'we have to teach 5 year olds how to have sex so they can do it right instead of waiting until they're a reasonable age'?

There was an All in the Family episode about this. Archie had his granddaughter baptized behind Mike and Gloria.
I'm sure this subject came up with many people; how to raise the kids. It's probably a big factor in many divorces.
It generally doesn't harm the kid, but it's still wrong to do.

This is an issue that both parents need to be in agreement on. No matter how well meaning, it is wrong for one parent to carry out such an act without the other one's consent.

What if you asked and they said no? Then a discussion is in order. It's definitely not something that one parent should do unilaterally. Though this is one of the many issues that couples in steady long-term relationships who have or are planning to have kids should iron out early on.

It is a harmless splash of water for an infant... If the parents are there it is kind of a nice ceremony to remind the parents to raise the kids in a way that models the love of Christ in their life. If they are not- then it is just water... We are to repent and be baptized. To repent means we need to be old enough (which varies from person to person) to realize that we are not perfect (sinners) and that Christ is or savior eternally.

Yes Anybody who disagree with that, are factually wrong But if you actually believe baptism saved your kid it would make sense to do this

Yes Anybody who disagree with that, are factually wrong But if you actually believe baptism saved your kid it would make sense to do this I think if one parent genuinely believes that, then the other should relent and allow the baby to be baptised. It won't harm the child, but will put one parent's fears at rest so isn't that the best compromise?
