There are a lot of rules that allow kids to be taken away from their parents legally. In general, that's a good thing. There are a lot of people who should never be allowed to be parents.
That said, there are imperfections in the system. The good and bad news is that the system is run by humans.

I think it's impossible for a system to be as broken as CPS/foster care is without it being intentional. The court takes kids away from their birth families, on grounds of maybe the kids were playing and got dirty, maybe there were dishes in the sink, maybe there was a bottle of wine in plain sight, maybe they homeschool, so they stick them with a bunch of deadbeats who beat the kids, drug them, rape them, kill a lot of them, all the while they're assigned caseworkers who report they saw NO evidence of ill treatment in the foster homes. But oh their 'danger' radar went off at the family home because maybe the kid had a bruise.

I remember the big Satanic Panic and the child molestation issues of the 80's and 90's. There was a lot of damage done to innocent people. The problem is you can't throw away the baby out with the bathwater; there are some really crappy people who shouldn't come anywhere near a child and if you got rid of CPS, that might be just as bad.

I don't see how, they seem to find a perfect parallel to those in 'suitable' foster parents.

Wake me when they pass laws to start throwing christers to the lions again, and I might be interested. Til then, it's just another one of their sobby 'persecuted martyrs' non-stories.
