Has been Black Adam. If that doesn’t highlight how little people cared for the DCEU during Walter Hamada’s tenure, I don’t know what does.

I reckon he inherited a sinking ship.

To be fair, Aquaman IS the highest grossing DCEU movie overall. And there were other factors that affected the box office of some of the later DC movies (like the pandemic).

I wasn’t saying any of the DCEU movies released since then should’ve made more than Aquaman. I was saying that it’s kind of sad to think that the highest grossing DCEU film since then was still considered a flop.

Is it a flop because it fell beneath projections? Because those projections could be based on unreliable data. Or is it a flop because half or more of it went to recouping the budget?
Economy has never been an exact science, but I do feel we're in an era where a film that makes hundreds of millions could be a flop. Clearly there's other hurdles to clear. Most of them seem artificial to me, like projected earnings, or making less than the predecessor.

I mean, I suppose for what it’s worth, Black Adam actually opened above what tracking had suggested. The problem was that the movie was too expensive for its own good, especially since it wasn’t released in China.

I think Snyder's JL and The Suicide Squad actually had a good chance at being fairly successful, even WW84. Problem was the pandemic was still around and these movies got mixed up in that whole same day streaming release. Had they released in regular cinema during regular times they would have done pretty good I think.

It's still crazy to me that out of all the DC films to crack a billion it was Aquaman.
Pretty good for a character that people made fun of for decades.
