I go to the Piggy Wiggly about once every 2 months, sometimes they get some new thing in that I will try. This time they got a new line of gourmet butters (Better Butter craft butter) so I bought the Black Truffle since I'm a mushroom lover. It only has truffle flavoring but it also has portabella mushrooms. black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. I haven't tried it yet.] but it sounds delicious. I've only had true truffles once in my life when I was very young and my Aunt took me to an elegant restaurant in Chicago, all I remember is a guy in a white coat and hat shaving tiny flakes off a weird looking fungus onto what ever we were eating. Of course I have eaten many chocolate truffles in my lifetime and it shows.
Slightly o/t has anyone seen Nicholas Cage's movie called PIG? It's about a chef who goes looking for his kidnapped truffle pig, I just bought the DVD but haven't watched it yet.

I bought some black truffle butter fairly recently... I admit it was a total impulse buy. I put it in the refrigerator and forgot about it until just a few weeks ago. I've used it on turkey sandwiches in place of mayonnaise, also added a dollop of it to a small pot of Thai Jasmine rice while cooking. It's very good, but probably not worth the price. It's always fun to try new things, though.

wickedkittiesmom I agree , it is good (on the salty side but I like salt) but its expensive for the small amount you get. I just wanted to try it but probably won't buy it again.

wickedkittiesmom, yesterday I took some of my BTB and spread it on a piece of good marble rye so as to make a nice little bread & butter sandwich. I must say, that was pretty good.
I know some people like to melt a pat of it atop a freshly grilled steak...... I haven't tried that, but it sounds good.
