So far only available in Theatres... This Trailer has been playing before "Oppenheimer". Did anyone watch it? What'd you think? Are we excited about a new sequel?

It actually doesn't look terrible. It even looks better than most of the other thousands of cheap, shitty possession movies that ripped off The Exorcist. But still, I can't have high hopes for it. It still seems entirely unnecessary and like it'll pale in comparison to the original, and it still seems like the typical 'requel' 'legacy-quel' or whatever stupid term they wanna use now in the way Ellen Burstyn is being used... and that ramped-up, cut-away, insert-shot-with-annoying-sound-effect thing that shitty horror movies use is unforgivable here (the moment where the girl is walking down the aisle at the church). This should be better than that. I'm sure I'll end up seeing it, but my expectations are pretty low.

Yeah I think it looks okay... The setup before the Possession stuff is interesting. Seeing Ellen was a highlight. I'm not sure they can glean two more movies from this. But they are already going for it.
I will say I really enjoyed the first season of the TV series. Season 2 not as much. So I suppose it's possible they have a decent trilogy up their sleeves. Guess we'll see.

Meh. Everything looks so cliche like all the others since the original. I donβt even think Ellen being in it will help it.

The review embargo has been lifted and the results are.... not great. Not all of the review are in yet, I'm sure, but 23% on Rotten Tomatoes is pretty bad, and a score of 41 on Metacritic is on the low end of 'mixed.'
A few that I read said the movie is dull and slow and has some loud and obnoxious jump scares and doesn't do anything interesting with a promising premise, but that Ellen Burstyn and Anne Dowd are pretty good.
Also, several reviews damned it with the extremely faint praise of pointing out that it's not the worst Exorcist sequel.
