The original Halloween had a novelization that came out in 1979. I myself read it when I was about 13 years old. Written by Richard Curtis (under the pen name Curtis Richards), it had a prologue set in ancient Celtic times which helps explain how Michael Myers became an "agent for the supernatural" if you will. Also, the violence was A LOT more graphic and brutal than the movie. The book has been out of print since the 80s, and the used copies fetches for outrageous prices online. Now the original novelization is getting reprinted in an edition that has new illustrations. It can be ordered online by a company called Printed in Blood but won't be delivered until early 2024. Whether or not it will eventually be available in book stores remains to be seen. So there's actually going to be two editions. The basic one will go for $50. The limited edition is a Special Boxed edition that comes hand-signed by both the author, Richard Curtis and the artist, Orlando Arocena. It also includes 2-8.5x11in. mini-prints. It will be $300 (too rich for my blood!) www.fangoria.com/original/halloween-novelization-returns-to-print-after-40-years/
