Unless it's non fiction, and then you might make an exception and read a book by a female. But only if it's a topic you're really interested in.
If you do that, you have the same preference that I do.

I can't understand the logic behind avoiding books written by the opposite gender, but a good friend of mine who's quite intelligent and well-read said recently that he doesn't read books written by women. I was very surprised.

I don’t intend on reading books only by males but I haven’t come across too many WW2 books written by females. At least not the ones that deal with certain campaigns or overall strategy.
