They brought it on themselves with a series of questionable decisions.

Most of the people from the Politics board moved over to Flying Monkey's forum (IMDB1), and it's very lively these days. Lots going on in the world.

Most of the people from the Politics board moved over to Flying Monkey's forum (IMDB1), and it's very lively these days. Lots going on in the world. I'd love to try it, if it's "lively." However, I'm really becoming irritated at the IMDb "franchise," if that's the right word. I've been posting on the various incarnations of IMDb, for almost 20 years ... I, honestly, don't recall exactly when I began. I feel that I have been chasing them all over the internet. They shut down, and another entity, or "offshoot," opens, and I have to re-register. I went to IMDb1. I was welcomed as a "guest," and asked to LOGIN/REGISTER. I have 3 ^&*($%#@ "passwords," and none of them work. Do I have to come up with a NEW password? I'm ready to say "to hell with it." This board is, indeed, dead. I'd try one more time, but I don't know what they want.

You should be able to view the boards without logging in. Maybe I can ask Monkeys if you keep having trouble.

I did ... on your advice of the full address. I've been told that they need to confirm my eligibility, and will receive an e-mail when I am confirmed. I'm a bit surprised, given my history with IMDb.
Thanks for your input.

8 months ago, we lost 5000 members. And pro boards just fucking watched. If we had 50,000 members and lost 5,000, there would still be 45,000 members here. Where are you guys getting these numbers? Just for fun, I tallied up the real ones... There have been about 4,800 successfully registered accounts here. Roughly 700 of them self-deleted and 2,300 were deleted by staff for various reasons, mostly for registering and never returning. Of the remaining 1,800 accounts currently on this forum, 1,200 haven't logged in at all in almost a year, and probably close to 100 have never posted at all, which means there's been about 500 active accounts since long before the April 1 fiasco. However, that doesn't mean there's been 500 members. A lot of the members here have quite a few accounts, so the actual number of members isn't anywhere near the number of accounts. Honestly, I don't think we've gotten any new members since mid 2017 or so - maybe a small handful at most. In reality, there's only ever been about 20 people here. lol Oh, and PB did not "just fucking watch." If they had, this forum wouldn't be here today. Roberto - If there's another forum you're trying to populate, just plug it. Don't be shy.

Does anybody have any statistics on message board usage in general, not just here or on ProBoards in general but I mean across the entirety of the internet? The reason I wonder is it just feels to me like message boards aren't nearly as popular as they were a couple decades ago. Even message boards that were on the top ten or twenty lists just feel quite a bit more dead to me today versus twenty years ago. I suspect social media largely killed them off.

I don't know of any statistics. Would be nice. Message boards definitely seem much less populated, but I still don't know where everyone goes exactly. Specifically for film and TV discussion, other than reddit.
Social media, sure. But where, and how? Do people just go to the movies social media page and reply to a random post and that's where they discuss it with others? I honestly have no idea.
