Yeah, that's pretty crazy. No Sidney (although they might give Neve her money now that there's one less salery to contend with), no Sam, and a different director. 7 is gonna be wild.

Can't say I'm too upset. Without stepping into the sociopolitical quagmire that persists here I feel like this is a bit of a rash decision. The consequence, and the swiftness of the consequence, seems a bit harsher than other people have been dealt, which leads me to believe this is more of a 'last straw' thing than it was a first strike. I bet there are behind the scenes issues the studio has had with her prior to this.
Anyway, forgetting her specifically or the particulars of this situation, I just can't be made to care too much about these new movies. They're fine. They're exactly what you'd expect a new series of scream movies to be. Typical 'reboot, requel, re-whatever' type stuff. Inoffensive, but far from anything special. If they make another one I'll see it at home when it doesn't cost me anything, but I can't pretend to care much about it.

It does suggest that the film is based on willy nilly decisions. If they are willing to drop someone so easily--it's not like the paying public care one iota about what she said---what does that say about their creative integrity?
James Gunn was making a lot of jokes about molesting children--it wasn't one or two--it was a dozen at least, and Disney wasn't concerned it would affect box office so the Scream people obviously don't care about it either. In fact, they drew attention to it by firing her.

Didn't Susan Sarandon just lose her agent and whatnot for similar softball statements? I don't want to sound like a Nazi, as I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with Jews being successful in Hollywood, but she took the opposing side of a Jewish state while in an industry with a strong Jewish presence. And they really don't like having their Holocaust compared to what's going on today. I haven't seen anything to suggest she's a pain in the ass to anyone beyond this. Ortega bailing the very next day would suggest she's probably more liked on set than not. Though after Scream 6's success without Neve Campbell, the studio probably thinks they're too big to fail as long as they got the name and costume. While I don't really sanction how we got to this point, I'll admit I'm not too upset either. Personally, as a diehard Screamhead since age 10, Scream 6 completely destroyed any interest I had in this requel trilogy going forward and I'd be all in on shifting focus to a new group of characters.
