What a weird movie. To say why would be spoiling it, I guess, but the creature of the title is such a strange choice. It looks pretty good, and the performances by Chrissy Metz and Scout Taylor Compton are totally fine, as are the other two actors that I don't know. It's a pretty well made, visually over the top movie, with an ultra-saturated color scheme and comic book lighting almost like those comic moments from Creepshow, but of course it's at feature length... and it's all in service of a really weird creature/monster kind of thing that really makes very little sense.
Weird enough to be amusing though, and the snowed-in setting usually works for me even though this version isn't very convincing. It has very little to do with Christmas except for allowing for some of the very colorful lighting, and it could be removed from the plot and change nothing at all. Even while Scout Taylor Compton is proselytizing, the holiday doesn't come up in the dialogue, which leads me to believe that the Christmas movie aspect was a late addition.

I'm a Scout fan. And like Connor Paolo. He was in the ABC series "Revenge" and has been steadily working. Albeit I haven't noticed him popping up again. Until now. (He was in the recent horror movie "Fire Island.") it's nice to see his name again. My Mom enjoyed "This is us" a lot. Otherwise, I remember Chrissy Metz from "Breakthrough" and "American Horror Story."
The movie sounds kind of interesting. But it sucks that Christmas really isn't brought up besides the lights. Makes you wonder why not just set it on Halloween? But I guess "A Creature was stirring" as a title wouldn't make sense.

But she's not bad. I'm aware of Chrissy Metz from This is Us, but I never watched it for more than a few minutes at a time. But all of the actors are perfectly fine in this. And it is interesting in some ways. It's very difficult to explain more without going into spoilers, but I really didn't like the ending, and there may be some thematic logic in that final sequence as to why it's not a part of the plot or dialogue... but even that doesn't make much sense. In fact, a lot of what happens in the movie, upon reflection doesn't really make a lot of sense. Still, it's got a very distinct style and it's made with a good deal of skill. That style could easily be annoying to some people, but it's very deliberately executed and I have to give it some points for not being ordinary.
