It offers some nicer colour saturation, but in the words of Shania Twain: that don't impress me much.
I get the point when it comes to blockbusters like Lord of the Rings, but I definitely don't think it's worth upgrading every Blu-ray to 4K UHD or choosing to buy the latter which is more expensive.
Speaking about movies now, don't know about gaming.

4k is great and a nice upgrade, as long as the remaster was done well of course. But yes upgrading your entire collection to 4K is just far too costly to be worth considering. So I just mainly do the classics, like LOTR yeah.

I don't think it will help older movies where grain is more prominent.
