Aren't they pretty much all bad? Or at the very least much worse than the previous good seasons of that tv show?
Are there any tv shows that are comedy that don't have a weak last season? Seems like it's always the last season of these shows where things fall apart. Like seinfeld for example.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but isn't what you say here the very reason why the last seasons of shows are the last seasons of show? In other words, shows are not going to go on forever. At some point a dry up will take place. The first show that comes to my mind is Family Matters. To me, the last two seasons weren't as good and in my opinion, it was due to the character of Waldo being written out. Why the powers that be decided to get rid of him, I have no idea.
God bless you always!!!

Yeah, Waldo was the glue that held Family Matters together.

A lot of people including myself consider Blackadder Goes Forth the best season. British shows in general seem to have a better understanding of when to throw in the towel before they jump the shark.
Though I reject the premise that the last season of Seinfeld was bad. It was a little OTT, and the finale sucked, but there were still some quality episodes.

Can't think of any that didn't disappoint in some way, but that's mainly because of the final episode.
Malcolm in the Middle's final season was pretty decent iirc. Or the original the Office, but that's not hard to do as it was only like 2.5 seasons.

Cheers had a good last season. It may not be perfect, but it still had a good set of episodes with the cast performing well. Pretty amazing accomplishment since the show was on air for 11 years. The final episode is considered one of the better ones we've had for a TV comedy. While that episode may not be perfect, it ends the show on a poignant yet sweet note.

Most great comedy show have Jumped the Shark before the final season. All in the Family/Archie's Place, That 70's Show, Happy Days, I Love Lucy, MASH, Friends. The jokes wear thin, the writers have exhausted every story line/angle, actors quit. But the networks want to milk the show for another season, figuring the mediocre ratings it's getting is better that the dismal rating a new show might get.
