Well, it's nearly what you'd expect from an RF Scott Antarctic expedition film. Stays true to itself & people involved, & yet there's a handful of obvious matte painting backdrops & false locales (Alps, Norway) used for obvious logistic reasons to keep it from feeling fictionalized. Other critics have pointed out there's not much there there other than the expdedition proper, to which I retort it's best that way - fluff can get in the way &/or overwhelm such an historic depiction as this. John Mills headlining, carries it very well. I know him mostly from The Longest Day, & this role here is akin that leadership.
