This one will hurt in Baltimore. They thought this their year. They play in a brutal division. Cleveland turned the corner, winning 11 by using four starting QB's. Cincinnati will be back, they are too talented to be 9-8. Pittsburgh will regress but they might not. I think there are 12 teams in the AFC who are playoff threats. Jets might be if AR comes back. Future is looking up in LA. Anthony Richardson looked good in Indy.

You could avoid making dumb mistakes. 2 endzone turnovers for Baltimore lost them the game, ultimately. I mean the KC defense gets some credit for those turnovers too. Sure, to some degree, but those are entirely unforced errors. You don't stretch the ball out like that unless it's 4th down, every player knows that, and you don't throw into double/triple coverage, especially in that situation... and if you do, you can't so terribly under throw it. Of course, KC took advantage, but those are really really bad mistakes.

Well, well, well . . . playoff Lamar shows up again. Six playoff games, five with a passer rating below 80.
Somehow, tomorrow, all the talking heads will have an excuse for him. Tefelon Lamar . . . nothing is ever his fault.

Lions doing great so far. Gotta play like it's life or death because you can't count on "maybe next year"

So far Purdy's biggest enemy has been tipped passes. Already had several batted down and one leading to an interception which resulted in a Lions TD. He doesn't have the strongest arm, but those tipped passes have been the real killer at this point.
That and a very efficient Lions offense.

Never mind that free agent wide receivers wouldn't sign with Baltimore and Hollywood Brown couldn't wait to leave. Dak Prescott has a career playoff passer rating of 91.8 with 14 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 7 games. Jackson has a 75.7 passer rating in the playoffs with 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in 6 games. And Prescott has more rushing touchdowns than Jackson has too (4 to 3). And yet when it comes to commentators, Jackson doesn't get one quarter of the shit that Prescott does.

9ers, all of a sudden are tied. A quick succession of plays lead to a large swing in points. We'll see what the Lions can do to respond, but it all seems to be swinging in San Francisco's direction at the moment.

The Cinderella run ends short for Detroit. They played great in the first half, then let the Niners get back into it. That hand off in the red zone when they needed all their time outs was just a horrible call that forced them to use a time out.
I think Detroit would have been better off just settling for 3 instead of burning precious seconds off the clock and then saving all their timeouts to get the ball back with seconds left to try a miracle TD. They were screwed pretty much in the situation either way because they couldn't stop the Niners in the 2nd half.

I like Dan Campbell, but that but his 'bold decision making was just stupid and costly here. Going for it on 4th as a general philosophy is ok, I do think coaches are sometimes too conservative, but you need to have some situational awareness. Where they were on the field, the score, the momentum swing that lead to that moment, the time left on the clock, and conventional logic all pointed to taking the points and tying it up. It was a terrible call.
And then down inside the 5 yard line with a minute and change left, you cannot run the ball there. Losing that timeout essentially ended the game. You know the odds of recovering an onside kick are so low that it's nearly impossible now, so if you can't stop the clock 3 times you've basically relented to lose there.
Bad decisions down the stretch were super costly.
But Goff played well enough win. They had some big drops in big moments. I kinda feel bad for the Lions. Blowing a lead like that is really brutal.

This is devastating economic news for Bay Area manicurists. None of us has any fingernails left. They can't, possibly, be looking forward to the Super Bowl.
