Bogart's final film. Bogie plays top shelf sports writer, hired by the mob to write hot air copy about an amateur boxer from Argentina, & get in on the money action with them while his lined up opponents keep taking dives... leading to eventual matches with a real contender, & hopefully for all with the champion to finally cash out.
End of an era on several fronts. Bogart passed in 1957, never got to 60's style cinema. One of the worst aged lines I've legit ever heard - mob trying to convince the ringer to not quit on them 'Even George here, has worked like a slave to show you all the tips & tricks!' George being a former boxer, the lone black person amongst the 20+ of them.
