Anyone play Texas Hold Em? I recently played and encountered two different hands, what would you do?
Hand 1: I was dealt Q 10 unsuited. I folded before the flop. There ended up being two other Queens among the 5 table cards. I was mad but was playing conservatively at that time.
Hand 2: I was dealt a pair of Jacks. I bet fairly heavily throughout the hand and it came down to me vs one other player. The 5 cards were nothing, no straights or flushes or anything else significant possible, but one of the cards was a Queen. You guessed it, the other player had a pocket Queen while I was unable to improve upon my pair of Jacks. Question - the Queen came during the flop. Would you have stayed in or folded at some point?

It depends on the stakes in the pot, my current chips, and how many other players are at the table. In general, maybe Hand 2 I'd have been more cautious after the Queen came on the flop - especially if there were a lot of other players still active. But you said it came down to you and one other person, so hard to fault what you did. Hand 1 you folded before the flop? I don't think I'd ever fold that early with a Queen in my hand.

I feel like I never know what to do with jacks and queens. Someone always has a king or an ace. Edit - I think 8 or 9 total players at my table. It wasn’t at a casino for actual $. It was at a tournament in my office with prizes for the final 5 players. Hand 1 was near the beginning and all players had similar chip stacks at that point. Hand 2 was later. At the time I had one of the two largest stacks at that table.

Son, I've made a life out of readin' people's faces. Knowing what the cards were by the way they held their eyes. So if you don't mind my saying, I can see you're out of aces. For a taste of your whiskey, I'll give you some advice.
You got to know when to hold 'em. Know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away, and know when to run. You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table. There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealing's done.
Hope that helps.

Hand 1: It would help to know what a call would have cost you. And how many other players were in the hand. I would have taken a try at Q-10 off if it was cheap enough. Biggest game I ever played I had Q 10. I was going to call but a silly voice in my head said "fold" and I did. The board, QQQJJ. And another player, with over $9000, had pocket jacks. Every fucking chip he had should have been mine, but noooo.
Hand 2: Depending on the position and the betting, I probably would have played out the Jacks. Rainbow board, no straight possibilities. What an beat you? Pocket A, pocket K, another Q and someone with a pocket pair who caught a set on the board. I might have even come over the top and tried to sell to the table that I had AA or a set.

There was one hand, I was dealt A 7 unsuited. I was the big blind so I ended up getting a free look. Flop was A A and something else. Turns out another player had a pocket ace and bet a ton. The turn was nothing, but the river was a 7. Bam, full house. Should have called it a night then lol.

Hand 1: Depending on what the other community cards were. Could have had flush/full house possibilities? Someone could have been holding a pocket pair, so they would have had trips, plus the 2 queens. Then, you would have been screwed. Hand 2: I probably would have held on until the turn - hoping I could get trip Jacks. If I didn't, if there would have been a bet, I would have likely folded. You never can tell, though. At our Christmas party for bowling, some do 10 pin bowling, while others (like myself) play cards afterwards. I had something like a Nine-Jack off-suit. Naturally, I folded pre-flop. Flop turned up 2 9's. The river....you guessed it....another 9! So, I threw my hat, almost as if to say "why did I fold?!" One of the other guys at the table said, "I'm thinking Joker had the other 9". Joker's Wilde

The turn was nothing, but the river was a 7. Bam, full house. Should have called it a night then lol. Best story I have
I was playing $1/$2 at the casino, doing okay, had about $600. Got dealt 5/6 spades. Made a $10 bet. one other guy called. Then one guy who had been playing a long time "bet the pot". The whole table noticed he "bet the pot" everytime he had pocket pairs. Flop is 7S, 8S, 10H. I have nothing but a tom of outs. Mr. Bet the Pot doubles the pot, so I'm thinking he has 10/10 and I want another card because if I catch anything, I'll beat his trip 10's. Flop come 10D. You could hear his dick get hard. He gasps and frantically look to make sure no one stole the other two 10s. And the idiot checks. Ir he bet a stick of gum, i would have folded. The river is the Four of Fucking Spades. He goes all in and I snap call him. But he thinks he won until the dealers shows him the straight flush. He went off on me something fierce. "You fucking moron, who taught you how to play. Chasing a straight flush, who is that dumb?" I had to remind him he checked the turn and gift wrapped the straight flush. He still goes off but all I do is pick up chips "This used to be your chip, now it's my chip. This used to be your chip, now it my chip. Hey this was your chip too! Not anymore. He literally shrieked at me and left.
