I am remembering a non-pc joke from 50 years ago from a book insulting every ethnicity and nationality, as well as Texans, etc.
What's an Irish 7-course meal? A potato and a six pack.
I'm trying to remember if I ever had anything specifically for St Patrick's day. Maybe something at work when they did a special lunch. Or a Shamrock Shake once
Big birthday yesterday. Got my 2+ pound Beef Flat Noodle with Sate Sauce. Usually have on Christmas Day.
Happy 3.14159265358... Day

However, I do like it, I might go that route. I was in Ireland, last fall ... the birthplace of my paternal "Gramma," ... and, I had beef stew, made with Guinness. (I guess that you can make a stew with anything.) That's another possibility. In "IMDb memory," of the great Count Suckula, I have a fond feeling for Sunday dinner. He always wanted to know what was for supper, who was coming over, etc.. If St. Patrick's Day wasn't on a Sunday, I'm not sure that I'd have thought of it. (Nicoroni, if you still talk to him, please say "Hi.") I do have a sweatshirt that I bought in Ireland. It's not green ... it's lavender. But, that's one of my favorite colors, so I'm happy.

I don't know why I should be obligated to go out and buy corned beef and cabbage if I am not Irish. I consider that an infringement of my ethnic identity. Saint Patrick's Day is exclusionary and should be banned in this country. I feel so left out.
edit: I'll probably have a reuben sandwich.

I'm originally from the Chicago area and ever since I was a child, " everyone is "Irish on St. Pat's Day." As a child, I loved that they dyed the river green and had a big parade. Its just an old tradition and can be fun.

Its just an old tradition and can be fun. That does sound like a lot of fun. I was joking, of course. I would never begrudge anyone their enjoyment. I love corned beef and cabbage. But what a monumental undertaking it would seem to dye the river green. It must not be a very swiftly flowing river.

Corned beef and cabbage isn't a thing in Ireland, I think it's more of an Irish-American dish.
