Beyond Therapy (1987) is an annoyingly quirky comedy about relationships. The main characters are 2 eccentrics played by Jeff Goldblum and Julie Hagerty who meet on a blind date and are also seeing therapists played by Tom Conti and Glenda Jackson for their problems and their therapists are just as eccentric as they are. Good cast with Julie Hagerty being the stand-out, but the movie is very disjointed and mostly unfunny. I can see what Robert Altman was going for, but the result is a complete misfire. 3.5/10

Is it really worse than The Company? Goldblum and Haggerty sound like a fun match, at least.

Is it really worse than The Company? Goldblum and Haggerty sound like a fun match, at least. You would think, but they really aren't in this movie. I blame it on the bad writing and unfocused directing. I haven't seen The Company.

Is it really worse than The Company? Goldblum and Haggerty sound like a fun match, at least. The Company has decent ratings though and Roger Ebert liked it a lot. Roger Ebert The Company - 3.5/4 Beyond Therapy - 1/4

The Player was a lot better. You've seen Beyond Therapy? No, but it's an educated guess.

You've seen Beyond Therapy? No, but it's an educated guess. Most of his movies are a lot better than Beyond Therapy.

Altman made two amazing movies, "Nashville" (in my Top 3) and "McCabe & Mrs. Miller" but then a movie like "Quintet" with Paul Newman.. Interestingly, John Huston said his worst movie (I'd agree) was "The Mackintosh Man" which stars Paul Newman.
