She was Chrissie Watkins, the girl attacked by the shark at the beginning of Jaws. Not a well-known name to many, but she definitely holds a place in horror movie history for this sequence. She parodied the scene four years later in Spielberg's 1941.

It’s amazing how you say her character’s name and I can immediately picture her even though her name in real life doesn’t ring a bell. She’s been immortalized in one of the best movies ever.
RIP

R.I.P.
Wonder if I should watch 1941 to commemorate her?

RIP. She'll be remembered forever in arguably the best opening scene in film history.

R.I.P. Wonder if I should watch 1941 to commemorate her? She's only in the opening, but it's a funny opening. The rest of the movie... some people hate it, I kind of liked it, though.

Horrywood! Horrywood!
1941 is a great film in my opinion, but the extended cut is the better version. The theatrical is missing some key scenes. Sorry to hear about the death of one of those actresses no one remembers by name but instantly recognizes due to the film(s) she was in.

Even though it was a small role, I am surprised she didn't get many offers to act in other horror and thriller pictures soon after Jaws became the major success that it was.
