Does anyone have a favorite character? Ford is my favorite. Bernard was another fav of mine in the early episodes, but less so later on. Was he always your favorite? Or did it change when it was revealed what his motives were? I liked him more when I realized what he was up to, but I'm not sure I can forgive him for Elsie.

Iāve recently been watching Season 1 of Westworld on Blu-ray (though I only get to watch an episode every now and then). I've watched 5 episodes so far and itās quite interesting. **somewhat spoilery below for the first 5 episodes for anyone who hasn't seen them** Iām glad Evan Rachel Wood has a lead role in this (I felt she was wasted on True Blood - which was the last thing I saw her in). She really excels at switching between her different āmodesā as Dolores, I think. When sheās being questioned, and we see her change, I find it totally believable. I also feel truly sorry for her character - despite the fact that sheās a ārobotā (though maybe itās because of that). I absolutely hate seeing it when sheās hurt or tormented or anything nasty happens to her. ERW is so good at eliciting sympathy for her character. The āhostsā seem to be the decent types/ones I can feel sympathy for, whereas a lot of the human characters seem pretty horrible - one such character being Ben Barnesā. In the most recent episode I watched, he gotten beaten up (deservedly) and his friend played by Jimmi Simpson left him to go help Dolores. I mightāve felt sorry for Ben Barnesā character if he hadnāt been such a jerk/horrible human being. I also feel sorry for poor James Marsden, who canāt seem to catch a break. So many films Iāve seen him in, heās played the āsecond choiceā character - the one who isnāt the leadās love interest that she ends up with. Heās died in some things Iāve seen him in...and he continues that here, dying/almost dying over and over again. Poor dude canāt seem to catch a break. I saw in another thread about āimpressive CGIā someone mentioned an example being the de-aged Anthony Hopkins in this show. After seeing it, I agree, it was very well done. Episode 5 was really interesting, especially the part with Dolores shooting multiple bad guys and no longer content being the ādamselā. While I might not be that into all the parts of this show, thereās at least enough to keep me interested. I look forward to watching the remainder of Season 1.

Together with Fargo probably my favorite new tv show since Game of Thrones in 2011. The teaser for season 2 is out for quite a while, but it's still amazing:

Just finished watching the Season 1 final of Westworld on Blu-ray...and I canāt say Iām overly opposed to the course of action Dolores took at the end.
Thereās at least one character Iām hoping caught a bullet.
Together with Fargo probably my favorite new tv show since Game of Thrones in 2011. The teaser for season 2 is out for quite a while, but it's still amazing: The Season 2 trailer does indeed look interesting. Though easily my favourite part would have to be Dolores shooting a gun whilst riding a horse.

Something I forgot to mention previously was how well the show used familiar tunes on the player piano. There were oftentimes instances where Iād be watching and thinking, āWhat IS that song? It sounds so familiar. I *know* I know it...but what is it?ā.
This one was my favourite (though the rest were really good too)...

Well, the trailer for Season 2 was released. **somewhat spoilery below if you haven't watched it or Season 1 yet** Honestly...I'm on the bulls' side. I enjoyed the voice-over from Dolores throughout the trailer, coupled with the piano music, but especially her final line and smile at the end.

Thanks for the new Season 2 trailer. **mild spoilers** I was happy to see Clementine again, as well as a peak at 'Samurai World'...though less happy to see a character still living who I wish had caught a bullet at the end of Season 1. As usual, the show knows how to use orchestral versions of well-known songs to great effect (in this case, Nirvana's 'Heart-Shaped Box'). As I've mentioned previously, I don't think Evan Rachel Wood gets enough credit for her portrayal of Dolores and being able to turn on a dime. She can be so unnerving - as seen throughout Season 1, but especially at the end of this latest Season 2 trailer. The way she says "Why on earth would you ever be frightened of me?", the way she says it and that smile of hers all combine to give off quite the creepy vibe, I think. I also really liked the shot of Dolores with slicked back hair, wearing a black dress and looking decidedly un-Dolores-like over a city landscape.

Thoughts on the season 2 premiere?
I thought it was okay, though it lived up to my expectation that we've already seen the most interesting part of the story. I thought season 1 was almost flawless and the series could have ended right there. Wondering what S2 can have up its sleeve to compete. So far, not much.

I thought it was pretty solid and set up several new threads like what happened to Bernard in the weeks between the incident and the arrival of the soldiers and how are hosts crossing the parks borders like the Bengal tiger. It looks like they forgot Dolores had broken William's arm in the finale.

Spoilers for the entire show:
I suppose I'm lucky in the sense that I didn't have to wait 2 years for S2, as I'd never seen the show before. I binge watched all of S1 the past couple of days, so no waiting for me!
Anyways, I agree that S1 was so tight, they could have ended it there and I'd be happy. Nowhere to go but down. Is there anything better than having killed off most of the humans, finding out that Bernard is a host, and the MIB is William (on that one, I immediately thought we were seeing an old timeline with William and Logan, because I thought I saw Delores waking William up on the train at the very beginning. Then I kinda forgot about it and was surprised when the big reveal happened).
So, here's a question I have that nagged me the entirety of S1.... The hosts are cleaned up after 'dying' and the others are part of a loop. So, how does Delores (or any host for that matter) wind up at her horse every day with the can rolling away, when she's in another guest's storyline? What happens to hosts like Teddy, since he's a part of the Stillwater (is that the name of the main town?) storyline? Maybe I'm just over thinking this.
Saw S2E1 earlier. I'm wondering where it'll go, because as far as I see it, just about everyone has been killed off (tho hosts never really die), so what now? Delores on a rampage is kinda boring unless they add some better storylines.

Showdown between hosts and humans, Bernard struggling with being a host, Delores and Teddy joining Wyatt's gang, the black chick who's in charge struggling between what's right and wrong, Maeve looking for her 'daughter'....what else am I missing? None sound interesting, save for Bernard. And I avoid spoilers, so I haven't seen the trailer for S2. So I'm just talking of what's 'obvious' in S2E1.

No, I agree, setting up a bunch of "searches" ( Maeve = daughter, Delores = real world, Bernard = health, MIB = whatever, Delos = one valuable host ) is kind of lame.
