Which one, the old or the new? The original movie from the seventies. It’s just not that scary. I thought it was decent. It felt psuedo-documentary-ish to me, kinda like a docu-drama or something. And the remake, or whatever it qualifies as, is also not bad.

Which one, the old or the new? The original movie from the seventies. It’s just not that scary. Just finished watching it and yeah it's not scary, nor is it suspenseful. It's just plain dull. And what was all that nonsense with Deputy Sparkplug? Talk about a lame attempt at humor.

For me it works... The 1970's documentary style filming, the narration, and Sparkplug gives a bit of levity. (But I get how it comes across as corny.) I felt the same way watching it as a Teen as I did watching the original "Texas Chainsaw massacre". Very scared from the eerie atmosphere. I remember watching it on a foggy night alone recently and it was still effective.
Really enjoy Dawn Wells in her small but important role. Apparently she was actually terrified filming it at 2 a.m. with a Dog on a chain barking nearby her etc.
