Baby Driver (2017) Directed By: Edgar Wright Written By: Edgar Wright In Theaters: Jun 28, 2017 Wide Runtime: 113 minutes Starring: Ansel Elgort, Jon Bernthal, Jon Hamm, Eliza González, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx
This is one of my most anticipated movies of the year. The trailers look absolutely amazing and the reviews so far are stellar. I just checked the reviews one more time and the average Rotten Tomatoes rating actually went up to 8.6/10 with 26 reviews (still at 100%). What do you think about it and has someone by any chance seen it in an advanced screening?

I may be able to watch it tommorow or Friday, because there are pre-screenings in the theater's nearby. If I'm able to see it, I'll post a short review/my opinion afterwards.

Just saw it and it was awesome. Hamm is very good in it, and the action scenes are great. The story seems a bit formulaic at first, but it throws a few curve balls in toward the end. I will say I'm not sure if I like Elgort much as an actor, but he was decent.

Just came back from watching it and yes it's as amazing as the critics say it is. The way it uses the music is just so great. It's so different from all the other movies, but it isn't artsy in a way that only the critics will like it: this is a movie for everyone. I went with someone who is really hard to please when it comes to movies, but I just knew he would love this. And I was right, I never saw him as excited about a movie as he was about this one. It's just so much fun to watch, but it's also serious when it needs to be and it has very intruiging characters. But I'll be honest, the core of the movie is its music. I think this is the second time I say it, but the music works so well. If I wasn't in the theaters I would sing with the songs. Even though it's completely different, it reminds me a bit of Fury Road in the way that it makes you want to punch your fist and the air and cheer during the movie. In reality I think it's more a mixture of La La Land and Grand Theft Auto (it's definitely not a musical btw). Go see this movie. I don't want to overhype anyone, but I'll make a bold statement and say this is my favorite Edgar Wright movie. I'll be shocked if this doesn't appear on many 'Best of the Year' lists in December, at least I already know it'll be on mine. This post is way longer than I wanted it to be, but I can't stop talking about it. I'd watch it again right now if I could. Has anyone else seen it already and what do you think of it?

I want to see this movie but I think it is one of those movies that will have to wait until streaming or on-demand. I just have too many other movies to see in theater.

how was the cast out of curiousity. The cast was great. I feel the music and style is more the centerpoint than the acting, but the acting is great. Kevin Spacey is as good as he always is, even though he doesn't have a very big role in the movie. Ansel Elgort was very likeable and genuine as Baby. Even though the music is important, he's still the main character and if he doesn't deliver the movie falls flat. But he does deliver, Edgar Wright definitely cast the right people. Maybe Jon Hamm's character didn't wow me as much as the others, but by no means does that mean that he's not good. I can't think of someone I felt was miscast or that didn't work well.

looks good, although Jamie Foxx has never looked uglier, very hard to look at him these days--There are a ton of songs in this movie

Well, at least we know one thing, the music in this movie is predominant, and the songs just have to be better than the songs in that crapfest La La Land lol

Just checked again and its at 84/100 on Metacritic now (15 reviews) and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with an 8.5 average and 33 reviews. I really hope the general public notices Baby Driver, because I'm afraid it won't get enough attention as many other summer movies.

An 84 on Metacritic?!? That's like winning an Academy award!

Still can't stop thinking about it, so I decided to read some reviews. Here are a few of the reviews, if anyone is interested. Empire - "An awe-inspiring piece of filmmaking from Edgar Wright that plays out as a musical through the lens of an action thriller. Sweet, funny and utterly original — you won’t see a film like it this year." - 5/5 Collider - "Wright is hanging his hat on music, practical stunts, and sound design (a side note: if Baby Driver doesn’t get nominated for Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing, those Oscar categories are meaningless). It’s a personal vision realized through music and sheer personality." - A- Monkeysfightingrobots - "In an era in which Transformers: The Last Knight exists, it gives me hope that directors like Wright are breathing originality into a world filled with sequels, reboots, and superhero films. Baby Driver not only is one of the best releases of the summer movie season, but it is also one of the best of films of the year period." LRM Online - "The acting, dialogue, action, style, and, of course, music are as good as you can get, making Baby Driver the must-see film of the summer!" - A Silverscreenbeat - "The film is as innocent and as bleak as they come. It does not shatter the world or come across as some grand work of fine art. Rather, Baby Driver is a pop masterpiece: heartfelt and wickedly cool – all surface, all pleasure." Vulture - "As he proves yet again in his thrillingly syncopated heist movie Baby Driver, the 43-year-old U.K.-born Edgar Wright is just about the perfect 21st-century genre director." The only mixed/negative review I could find was from DigitalSpy - "Baby Driver is certainly an entertaining ride but when you pop the hood there's not much under its shiny surface." - 3/5
