There has always been a lot of talk on how MCU makes weak villains... question is does the DCEU make their villains any better? Compare the DCEU villains against the MCU villains, rank them in order of how well you think they were done, and let's see if the DCEU makes their villains any better than the MCU. I'm limiting it to main villains to keep it simple:
DCEU villains so far:
Zod Lex Luthor (Eisenberg) Doomsday Enchantress Joker (Leto) Ares
MCU Villains:
Iron Monger Abomination Whiplash Loki Red Skull Killian Malekith Winter Soldier Alexander Pierce Ronan Yellow Jacket Ultron Zemo Kaecilius Ego

All of the MCU villains are better, and that includes Ares who may comparable to I guess Malakith. Maybe. Everybody else is more developed and contributed more.
None of the other DCU villains are even close. They're all annoying at best, with several being outright jokes.

Not really good villains in DCEU apart from Zod maybe. But that does not make the MCU villains good. Especially Whiplash, Kaecilius( horrible waste of Mads Michelsen) Abomination or that shit from Antman whatever his name was

I don't dislike the Marvel villains as much as others but the least interesting characters are certainly Malekith, Whiplash, Killian, and Zemo. Malekith was simply a nonentity, Whiplash was an unintelligible brute, Killian was an insult to people wanting the real Mandarin, and really, who the fuck cared about Zemo?

Whiplash was an awesome villain and Mickey played him beautifully.

So where exactly would the DCEU villains rank among the MCU villains?

I want to mention Abomination. Tim Roth gave an excellent performance as Blonsky and I think he was one of the best MCU villains before he ever even became Abomination. Also, the climactic fight with The Hulk was excellent.

Whiplash was an awesome villain and Mickey played him beautifully. Mickey's performance was better than the character. As for the other villains, the only one I wanted to weigh in on is Leto's Joker... I think he is underrated. I see him as a psychopathic version of Caesar Romero's Joker...more overtly dangerous than Nicholson's Joker, with more whimsy than Ledger's. He is still low on the overall list of representations of the Joker, with Hamill, Nicholson and Ledger all being far better interpretations...but I think he gets needlessly overlooked.

The dislike for Marvel villains is overblown. They're only bad villains if Hans Gruber is also a bad villain. This idea that movie villains HAVE to be as deep and nuanced as the main character is frankly impractical and ridiculous. Did James Bond ever need deep villains? No. They're there to serve their purpose. And yet that's not good enough for the MCU films? Let it go. In any case, the DCEU villains are pathetic, because they try to make them deep, but its just pure Sophistry.

Whiplash was a great character. We get to see how a person who is a Stark level genius grew up to have a brutal tough side, and how his past leads him to want to one up Stark in a very personal story. It's fantastic. I'd take a villain like him any day. It was great.

The 3 worst are definitely Mandarin, Ronan, and Zemo.
Mandarin - he was a joke of a villain.
Ronan - "I'm Ronan the Big Bad Destroyer and I'm invincible!" Defeated by a silly Dance-Off.
Zemo - he was worst than Lex Luthor in BvS. At least Lex knew to kidnap Martha Kent and Lois Lane. Zemo: "The Avengers killed my family. But even though I know all of their identities, I'm not going to do the logical thing and go after their families and loved ones. Instead, I'm going to come up with this convoluted plot where I find the only copy of a videotape from 25 years ago of Bucky murdering Tony Stark's parents and then I'm going to wait for Captain America, Bucky, and Iron Man to all show up at this remote base in Siberia at the same time so they can watch the videotape together and then Iron Man and Captain America can fight each other."

Mandarin wasn't a villain. Heck, I didn't even include side villains like Faora, Kurse or Justin Hammer, completely no reason to include an actor playing a role. Also, Ronan was defeated by an infinity stone, not a dance off.

I defend The Mandarin...thought it was a great misdirect.
Able to play into all of the "Terrorist" tropes while upending them at the same time.

At least Zemo had legit motivation to plot against The Avengers and had to rely solely on himself instead of oodles of cash to get his goals achieved. A full year later and we still haven't the faintest idea what Lex was trying to achieve in BvS, by forcing Superman to kill Batman what does that do for him? By Batman killing Superman what does that do for him? What exactly were his goals after unleashing Doomsday? Did he hope to not get caught by the authorities? Why did he kill his loyal assistant Mercy? Was she secretly conspiring against him? Was she an amazon that would've stood in his way?( Though if she is, why didn't Diana recognize her?) Was he acting on his own will or was he being manipulated by Steppenwolf? Eisenberg's sporadic giggling-like-a-five-year-old didn't help things either and only made him more of an annoyance than a legit threat.
