Sean Connery doing his absolute best to break out of being typecast as Bond in the year 2283.
The god Zardoz says: "The penis is evil. The penis shoots seeds, and makes new life to poison the Earth with a plague of men, as once it was, but the gun shoots death, and purifies the Earth of the filth of brutals. Go forth ... and kill!"
Beautifully shot by Geoffrey Unsworth in Ireland.

This film is one of the biggest guilty pleasures of my life! Despite the film's overall silliness, it's visually great, and has a great music score.

I always thought Burt Reynolds turned down the role so they tried to make Sean Connery look just like him.

Arty, sexy fun from a bygone era. Guilty pleasure indeed. Indeed, the end is both thought-provoking but with a touch of humor.

What is it with movies and that tune? It was also used during the speech scene in The King's Speech. It's a great tune, but still.

Zardoz uses my favorite recording of this symphony, Eugen Jochum conducting the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam.
