In this clip, watching this as a young kid at the time, this scene as forever stay in my mind in terms of scariness ..Myers standing in the stairway while Tommy says, you can't kill the boogeyman..
Maybe I was close to the age of Tommy & Lindsey at the time...

I was 10 when I first saw it in the movie theater. That scene, as well as the whole movie, scared the crap out of me.

I like the scene during the daytime, when Myers is standing next to the hedge on the driveway watching the girls walk down the road. When he disappears, you can see him crouching at the side of driveway behind a bush next to the house. Where did he get the mask?

My favorite scene is when Michael Myers attacks Annie.

Maybe I was close to the age of Tommy & Lindsey at the time... Mine basically starts when Laurie discovers Annie stretched out in the bed with Judith Myers' tombstone and goes on to the end of the movie. Also, if the movie had ended that way with no sequels, I would have been happy.

When he sits up in the background as Laurie is in the foreground sitting on the floor after just escaping him in the closet.
2nd favorite scene is Laurie walking towards the Wallace's house ( just after Linda is killed on the phone). Something about the wind blowing, the music, the dark, and that Jack-o-latern just epitomizes the feel of the movie for me.

Probably the ending. After the boogeyman dialogue between Loomis and Laurie, he goes to check on the dead body of Michael for it to be gone. Kick in the eerie Halloween theme, Laurie starts sobbing, Loomis stands their quietly deep in thought, the heavy breathing starts, as the camera atmospherically pans to different rooms inside the house. Now outside at dead of night, the breathing becomes louder, faster, the Halloween theme is still prominent, as we see the front exterior of the house, then Annie's and for it to finish on the Myer's former residence.
Loved how this finale is executed. Beyond perfect. Very subtle, but downright chilling.

Where Michaels face slowly appears out of the darkness behind Laurie.

Laurie whimpering in the hallway after discovering the dead bodies. And Myers' mask slowly materializing out of the dark behind her. Always gives me goose bumps.

I've seen this scene dozens of times but don't remember him crouching behind a bush? I think it is Annie that goes to look behind the hedge to tease Laurie. If you look carefully in the background and pause the film, you can see Myers crouching. I think this is something that I deliberately looked for, because he couldn't have gone far, just disappearing like that all of a sudden and we knew as an audience, he wasn't an apparition of Laurie's.
Hah. Now I'm going to be looking for that every time I watch the movie.

The opening scene. I remember running out of the room when I first saw it at age 9.

For me it's when Laurie finds the corpse of Annie on the bed with the Judith Myers tombstone propped up. Scary and disturbing.

There are many great scenes in Halloween, but my favorite is where, after hanging Bob on the wall, Myers stands there staring at him tilting his head from side to side. It freaks me out every time I watch it.

1. Hedge scene 2. Clothesline scene 3. Face appearing behind Laurie
It's like trying to pick your favorite M&M, they're all good.
