I always found it weird that they establish that Mars has a some kind of repressive Matriarchal government, but then never actually do anything with that. I spent half the film wondering when that would become important, only to realise in the last thirty minutes or so that it wasn't going to.
Also the whole situation seems weird. The Martian "spirits" have no weaknesses. There's no way to stop them. Which means that every single thing the heroes do during the movie is completely pointless. We're left with them heading out to fight more, but why? They can't win so why is there any reason at all for the audience to care?

I liked the idea but it wasn't suspenseful enough and the ending...what a bizarre "shrug your shoulders" ending.

I haven't seen this one in quite some time and I probably haven't seen it enough times to give an in-depth opinion on it, but I don't remember being too fond of it. I remember thinking that the bad guys were more corny than scary. I don't remember them doing much other than standing around, growling, and screaming.
