Violence on TWD: -This whole "Violence is killin' the show" theme is just plain silly. I'd say for the most part that we all enjoy watching a good kill on, "The Walking Dead". That's why SO MANY of us watch the show. The kills on TWD are no where near as graphic as those on Z-Nation. -And Z-Nation is pretty damn mainstream. TWD is a show about survival and not much else... I love the heart of the characters, but as with any TV show, they all act with a certain amount of, "La-La-Land Logic" built into them that comes attached with any contrived idea or person. It's a TV show folks. No one is actually getting hurt. LOL! -It may sound shocking to you, but the most basic reason why we all love zombie themed entertainment is that it allows us to, "kill" another individual without having to feel any guilt or remorse! -Yes, perhaps to even find joy, (Like in the way that Maggie did when she discovered that she knew exactly how to take out those guard walkers...) in the demise another individual. You can either dig it or not!

People who go into watching a series about Zombies not expecting it to be violent are idiots

It may sound shocking to you, but the most basic reason why we all love zombie themed entertainment is that it allows us to, "kill" another individual without having to feel any guilt or remorse! I always got the impression that zombie films were a kind of social commentary on the perils of a consumer dominated culture. But that was really just the Romero films. These days, i guess they need an excuse to keep the zombie treadmill going... -On the topic of violence, why are people complaining about killing dead people? huh?

I was disappointed last week when they did not show how Rick "killed" Winslow. He had a freakin' knife covered metal helmet! I can only assume he went for the neck and cut its head off. They showed a long shot from the top of the pit, but I couldn't tell. Likewise in the premiere, when they did the awesome "2 cars and cable" trick, we saw parts flying, but it was a long shot without much detail! Maybe I'm ghoulish for wanting to see detailed gore, but that's what I'm used to watching this show. Like others have said, they are dead already.
The few "complaints" came from the brutal violence on our human cast members who were fan favorites. That episode is still hard for me to watch again. I think the Glenn talking with his eyeball out part is what drove some viewers over the edge. But it is insane to complain about the violence and gore on a show about zombies! I'm afraid the show is wimping out this season, I hope it doesn't keep going this way.
Welcome to the board Kat! So far it's pretty cool here, and more people coming on every day. Fewer of the trolls also. BTW, do you really talk like that? Using "Ebonics"? I assume you are the same age as me, and it is just not cool for white pre-seniors to try to sound like rappers and hip-hop artists, especially when you type it out. Day, dat, dis, dem instead of They, that, this, and them. It just appears lame, but on the other hand, be yourself. I am not trying to put you down.

Day, dat, dis, dem instead of They, that, this, and them. It just appears lame, but on the other hand, be yourself. I am not trying to put you down. Actually, I speak with a hard-core English accent. (Haven't you heard my video?) -When I was a kid, they used to call me, "The Lady Lennon" because I sounded so much like The Beatles"! HA! -I'm old now and that's what I grew up singing, so I still kinda' sound like them... Even when I speak. The whole "dis, dat and duh-utter-ting" business is because I know that there are a lot of Grammar-Nazi's out there, just itchin' to rip any miss-spellin' monkey like me to shreds... I hate that shit. -My spelling was horrible as a kid and now-a-days, with everybody wanting a response to their questions quicker then fast, I'll end up having to check every word and every sentence for errors... It takes forever! I don't feel like gettin' wacked on the head by so called "mates" every time I slip! -So, I figure, if I once and awhile adopt that new "Hep" lingo' that you kids use these days as part of your vernacular... (...and BTW, you all spell as bad as I once did!) I can get my messages out quicker and that also might just get me off the hook with some of the more, shall we call them, "People with tight assholes"! ?? You also may notice that when I do my reviews, everything is pretty much spell-checked... I love the new board... ...and I hope we're all here to stay! Very good to meet so many, "Walking Dead" fans! (P.S. You were right about Glenn though... He was so beloved that it might have been just all too much for some to take! -I'm sure the South Korean demographic took it on the head that very same night!) That's all she wrote.

If you speak with an English accent, you should audition for TWD! They would love you! Just do a fake "southern accent"! I just hate the ebonics. It is an American liberal attempt to legitimize ignorance. I am not a Grammar Nazi, I could just tell by some posts that you spoke "normal", and others you sound like Lil Wayne!

Without a direction, a show is no good whether it is a soap with some zombies sprinkled on or hardcore brutal killings.

Perhaps... -But then there are those chosen few who would rather watch snuff-films then sit down to a Spielberg or Hitchcock movie...
Violence sells. Sex sells... Direction or not... A lot of people will settle for a little T and A, as long as they get to see them cut the gal's head off in the end... It may be sad commentary on our culture, but I don't think it does anyone any good to deny it.
Many people watch shows like Z-Nation and TWD just so they can catch that POV camera shot as the bullet passes through the blokes brain! That's just the way it is.
-That's all she wrote.

No, anyone watching this show knows what is going to happen.
This is life in a post-apocalyptic world.

The show lacks hope. The excess violence tends to add to that as all they do is travel around finding somewhere safe (the prison) only to fuck it up by taking on other communities and then having to hit the road again.
Seeing them get their heads caved in is only funny for so long.

People didn't have a problem with the grotesque violence until it happened to one of the most beloved characters in the show (Glenn.) Then it struck a cord and all of a sudden people mistakenly thought (or pretended to) suddenly have a problem with the excessive violence in general.
Hardly anyone would have given a damn about a guy getting bludgeoned and one of his eyeballs popping out if it had happened to a far less popular character. Tht's my (expert) take on it.
