It means very little if you don't adjust for inflation. Sure, but then you have to consider societal changes and the cinematic experience over the years. Back in the day fewer films were in theaters at any given time and people had far fewer entertainment options as well; On the other hand, the number of theaters in many global markets has also increased exponentially in recent years. Personally I don't care about the list, most of those movies are total trash if you ask me. But it isn't as simple as adjusting for inflation when it comes to proving whatever it is you're trying to prove with box office numbers.
