Not "just like." Your understanding of "just like" is zero. When I want functionality I add it myself, that way it has no bugs. I don't have to write anything because the truth is what it is without my help. I'm still using Windows XP and you still can't touch me. By the way if you want your computer secure you need to quit letting scripts run, yet everyone lets scripts run lately, I see the crowd isn't very sensible about security.

<Ned Stark quote: A madman sees what he sees.> Be careful watching too much TV or videos, those can hypnotize people. And you should be careful about not day dreaming stuffs or day dreaming about adding functionality to proprietary software by yourself. Apart from bragging about continuing to use one of the most insecure operating systems ever in a period in which even its owners don't support it anymore. There is no bravery in madness.

Apart from bragging about continuing to use one of the most insecure operating systems ever in a period in which even its owners don't support it anymore. There is no bravery in madness. I do not delude myself about security. Windows XP is totally secure. The new browsers it can use are not. I understand that. But then the internet and all browsers have security issues, especially when the vast majority of people (including you?) on the internet are totally oblivious of how security works and allow every web site to depend on running client side scripts on their computers. Remember when you could turn scripts off? Remember when that was recommended? You still can turn scripts off on Chrome, but there are not many web sites that will work without scripts anymore. This web site won't work without scripts running client side. The scripts on my web site are server side and do not require access to client's computers. Yet you lecture me on security!?!? I do not delude myself about programming. The current events quiz is just one of many programs I wrote in one of many computer languages I know. Having internal unresolved conflicts is one definition of insanity. Trying to make computers both secure and not secure at the same time with ridiculous "updates" is the madness. You are the one making no sense at all, zero, zip, nada.

Security updates make sense because they address the discovered vulnerabilities of a piece of software that have been uncovered after their release, no one claims that a computer is magically secure after an update, just that the known vulnerabilities have been patched. This is a prime example of why a little knowledge is dangerous. for emphasis,
Then shouldn't an operating system eventually be virus proof? Shouldn't the "vulnerabilities" run out? All get fixed? Then when the processor speed no longer changes, and memory and storage are way beyond what anyone has any use for, shouldn't there be no need at all for a new operating system? I claimed that a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing: I rest my case.

Just to clarify for whomever might need it, I meant you should not run scripts from the internet, your browser should not allow web sites to run them. I run my own scripts much of the time. They automate various tasks, making life easier. I have a collection of scripts I keep as examples of the various scripting languages; .vbs, .js, .ps1, and .py (Python). Remember when I said I finally got around to learning Python? It's a scripting language. Although I have instructed my browser not to run scripts, I have made exceptions for sites like this one (I don't actually need.) and sites I do need for one reason or another.

He adds functionality to propriety software and is proud of working on an OS abandoned by the very people who created it.

This had our dev staff laughing. Even now we're dealing with rampant ransomware on clients who still insist on running XP.
