I like the captain as much as any met fan, but no. his numbers aren't quite good enough, and he would have to play at least another 4 years to rack up more numbers and move up on all time lists. with his injury, that likely won't happen.

Nope, he's been a good player but between all of his injuries he won't get there, had he been healthy his whole career maybe.

Agree with both of you, no way he gets in. Not even a realistic shot.
I love David Wright and I've had the pleasure of meeting him a handful of times at various charity events around NYC over the years. He's always been friendly and happy to meet fans, he's always handled himself the right way and plays the game with the youthful exuberance that you love to see in the pros. Being on bad teams, having idiotic Met ownership building a stadium that effectively nullified his opposite field power (which was tremendous in his first few years at Shea) and caused him to turn into a dead-pull hitter, and of course numerous injuries have completely derailed what could have been a truly fine career.

That's cool that you met him, he seems to be a cool person in real life, unlike a lot of players that are probably dicks.
We will certainly be remembered as one of the greatest Mets players of all time, though.

Sucks for Plawecki, but honestly, every time he gets extended playing time it means the team's offense is nearly unwatchable. Granted, D'Arnaud was awful last year, but at least he carries the promise of being capable of hitting the ball. Plawecki is clearly a minor leaguer who gets thrust into the big show due to injuries and his defense is nowhere near good enough to make up for his obvious offensive shortcomings. A pure black hole for any lineup.

True, we will have rene rivera, and i would almost rather watch him than plawecki. it's just nice to have a young backup catcher with potential.
