Personally, I would have preferred United kept him. Still think there's a lot of quality there.

That was a beautiful goal. I really wish him well and all, and will never forget the incredible brute force of a talent he was back in the day, especially his fantastic link up play with Cristiano Ronaldo which was a big part why Manchester United came back to became one of the most dominating and successful teams in fotball between 2006 and 2013, winning almost every big trophy there was, and always fighting for another one. If Rooney had been all fit (not injuried in 2009-10) United might had won both the League and Champions League once again, as they lost out on just 1 point behind Chelsea that year, and on away goals against Bayern in europe, then of course the awful waste of a seson that was 2011-12, losing out the title on lesser scored goals than City, after throwing away a lead of somewhere between 7-8 points with little games left to play, but of course the next one that followed would taste very sweet, knowing that it was the last one with Sir Alex in charge. Anyway, Rooney from 2013 and up till now, was just sad to witness. Shocking at times to watch such a talent fall apart, and I often foud myself more angry/frustrated than glad to see him getting rewarded with game time, and to see such crappy play over and over, only to have the usual cowardly english football "experts" rarely come out and critize him, beside maybe Roy Keane. I tried to find something good about his influence as a captain for the past few seasons but seeing him the captain role, that was just too much. Having gone from having pure warriors like Robson, Cantona, Bruce, Keane and Vidic, it was very fruststrating. But all that is now past, and I wish Wayne a good time in Everton and I hope he does well, and maybe find that little extra that can maybe give him a boost to be able to get some playtime during next years World Cup, and that he hopefully will play awful when coming up against his former team, but I will be cheering for him and Everton when they take on teams such as Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. Anyway, this is the Wayne Rooney I will remember, the days when Manchester United played with a pace and style that few other could match, and the Rooney/Ronaldo partnership was immense and at times almost impossible to stop during the period between 2006-2009:
