Stormborn
Synopsis: Daenerys receives an unexpected visitor. Jon faces a revolt. Tyrion plans the conquest of Westeros. Director: Mark Mylod IMDb rating: 9.0 IMDb v2.0: 7.1 RT rating: 100% (8.3 average)
What did you think about the season's second episode? I thought it was great, especially Euron and the final naval battle. Over the last two episodes Euron suddenly became one of the best (current) Game of Thrones villains. The scene with Jorah and Sam was very good as well. The episode was paced very well, the hour flew by and I was never bored. It's still setting up a few things, but it felt like this was the last set-up episode and that the final naval battle signaled the start of the real war. It was better than the first episode (which I rated 9/10), but I think it's just not enough for a 10 so I'm giving this one a 9/10 as well.

Theon is as good a bodyguard as my chihuahua. You must hate your chihuahua to disrespect it like that. On a serious note, I liked that Theon didn't sacrifice himself by going for sure death. May be he freaked out or may be wanted to give himself a chance of saving his sister. Either way better than some stupid death.

I thought it was a great ep, Sam and Jorah face to face and that grayscale peel, nymeria and arya, arya and hot pie, mel meets Dany and crew, the two shit snakes die leaving the last one left as also the one with the best rack in the land, foreshadow of a dragon death, Jon leaving for Dragonstone and choking LF and finally the awesome ship battle!
Damn fine ep!

An 8. I liked it.
I liked: -Naval battle. -OLENNA!!!! She may not die. I forbid it! -Dead sandsnakes. When they started that "mama" shyte? Oh, my God.. -Euron. Hes quite mad but entertaining all the same. -Nymeria.
Wheres Ghost?
Poor Theon. That scene was unexpectedly touching for me. And the look on whats her names face when she saw the fear in him. She actually cried. She didn't even cry watching her fleet get torched. Maybe Theon will pull off a win, though. Somehow, Im hopeful.
Missandei and Greyworm are two very well built people. Lol I didn't care to see them "make love" but I was pleased with their nakedness all the same. Lol
Booo, Melisandre`. Boo! She killed our princess and made Ser Davos cry.
Dany drilling Varys had to happen but I didnt like her for doing it. Leave Varys alone. All the work hes done with Tyrion to clean up her mess in mereen--and NOW she wants to question his loyalty? If not for him, shed be dead. Im glad that he stood his ground.
The Queen in the North. Im actually terrified at the prospect.lol Its Sansas right to rule, I support that. I just dont have faith in her abilities. Yet. lol Davos leaving is not a good thing for her. Hopefully Arya will hurry. Speaking of- I think Arya will be the one to kill LF. Wasnt it foreshadowed a season or two back? Sansa said that no one could protect her. Well, who is Arya but everyone and "no one"? Im grasping but its possible.
Randyll Tarly is surprisingly honorable. I liked that very much.
Why is Cersei so smart now? Did she drink a potion or something?
Why is Cersei still alive? Shes weak and she blew up a sept with beloved people and others inside. The villagers were eating, beating and raping nobles for less in season 2.
Lyanna Mormont. They should back her down a bit. Some of her lines should be given to someone else, in my opinion.

It was a good episode. It wasn't quite as good as last week's episode. I thought surely things would be moving a little more quickly than they are and that's frustrating. Still it was nice to see all these characters interacting...especially those at Dragonstone. It took years for all these characters to come together. I like Dany's plan...just not sure it's going to work out like that.
And now that Cersei has that giant bow...you know one or two of those dragons is going to die. That sucks too! Ugh! I just want her to die...and die soon!
I give it an 8.

Some of her lines should be given to someone else, in my opinion. I like your write up. I wanted to comment on some too. The naval battle, like someone else said somewhere, was beautifully done. The pan out scene when Yara was just staring out at all the mayhem was awesome! I love Olenna, but I do not like what she said to Dany at all. I think that's foreshadowing to some later bad decisions by Dany. Nymeria-did she turn away because she rejected Arya or did she agree to go with her? She left her alive, which indicates that she remembered Arya but I was a little confused by her actions. Were she and her wolf pack coming up on and eating stragglers in the woods and found Arya by accident just roaming or did she approach Arya because she knew or remembered her? Theon-I thought Yara was crying because she realized Theon wasn't going to save her, after all the work she put in trying to get him back to the old Theon and realizing he wasn't the old Theon, or was she just crying because everything they'd done up until now was ending? I didn't notice her shaking her head 'no' or anything to indicate what she wanted him to do so I wasn't sure what was going on there. I didn't mind Dany's interrogation of Varys and I thought her concerns were well thought out and with merit but yeah, she should have taken into account what he's done already for her. The timing was a little off; it should have been done earlier. Still, Tyrion is her hand and he trusts A Varys. I thought Varys handled himself well. I think Jon leaving Sansa in charge was a move to placate her but I hope it doesn't bite him in the ass. He now knows littlefinger's deal and should have arranged for an "accident" to happen lol. Seriously, letting him sit in on strategy sessions when he knows Littlefinger doesn't belong there is weird and off. How does he know Littlefinger won't leave at some point and make his way south to tell all? Sure, he's in love with Sansa, but would he make a deal to leave her alive and with him to secure the north if he told all to Cersei? He's such a wildcard we don't know what he's thinking, but we know he'll side with whoever is easiest to control to get him what he wants. Sansa is easier to control than Cersei but he is still a potential threat to Jon and his mission. I just don't get it. I do hope Arya kills him, that would be awesome. I wanted to throttle Cersei when she was telling the other houses her spin on what was going on. Half truths and spinning. Typical and necessary though, they'd all do the same in her position and she needs them backing her. I just don't like it. And I liked the dragon killing spear catapult even less. The only thing worse than watching dire wolves be killed will be watching dragons be killed. Lyanna-at least in this episode she was actually speaking against Jon, so that's something different. As much as he respects her, even she didn't sway him from his decision. I can't wait for this meetup. I wonder how he'll feel when he sees Melisandre and knows she arranged it. EDiT: Randyll Tarley, fuck that guy and his loyalty. He should have shown more of it to his own damn family re: Sam. He's a shitty, nasty person. I'll be happy to see him die.

Folks, I can understand everyone's pov, but I do like to defend the Queen of Thorns. She was frank and objective and told what actually happens in this world rather than what we think will happen. Tyrion is an intelligent man but he made a mistake. He divided Dany's army into 3 parts and we all know how dividing your forces is almost always bad. Remember the success of Robb Stark and capture of Kingslayer? First, Tyrion exaggerated the probable causalities of war if Dany were to use her dragons. When Aegon the conqueror attacked Westeros many armies just surrendered to him. Also, we are talking about war. Dany's dragons would have killed the soldiers and not civilians of king's Landing. Many Lords would have simply yielded. But now it seems many of the fighters of Greyjoy's have already died. The other unit has been dispatched to Casterly Rock and it might be that they will be handed their ass back by Lannister forces in Casterley Rock. So the number of people Dany wanted to save would already die because of their current strategies.
Regarding Lord Randyll Tarley - He is one of the greatest military commander in Westeros and was totally loyal to Targaryen's during Robert's rebellion. We still don't know what is in his mind. But there is valid reason for any southern lord to be wary of dothraki monsters that Dany has brought to Westeros.

I loved the episode despite being in strong disagreement with Tyrion's plan which is nonsensical to me. A solid 8.
I think the naval battle was great but I also hope it's not the only one that happens. I really want an episode 9 level navy battle and especially considering the size of both armadas
My fears and certainty of at least one dragon death are coming to fruition. I hope it's not Dany's favorite.
I read the Arya scene wrong. At first I was thinking the wolf scene was symbolic of Arya not really being a part of the North either anymore. Now I'm thinking it's more that she realizes the North is where she belongs as is the case with the rest of her surviving siblings. So maybe she won't become a serial killer after all...Or rather anymore.
It would have been better to send Sansa to see Dany, but considering the importance built up for Jon & Dany, it makes sense from a story perspective that these two meet and do whatever the fans think they are supposed to do since the writers are apparently basing their story off of the fans anyway.
I'm glad I never forgave Theon. however, I also like the fact that considering the amount of time he was tortured coupled with his loser personality in the first place, it makes sense that he would all of a sudden convert to being a good man.

I am getting tired of them intermingling similar shots for cut scenes for gross purposes.
That greyscale to potpie scene was disgusting, just like the poop to soup scenes last week.

I think Theon bailed because he knew attacking Euron would not result in death. He knows Euron, he knows his uncle would keep both and torture them. The last thing Theon wanted was to face another version of Ramsay. If Theon thought Euron would simply kill him, I think he would have gone for it.

Euron stabbed time over time without any effect? This plot armour is really getting more than annoying.
This character is really bringing this show down to the gutter.

Randall Tarly is the biggest problem for me. He's pledged to House Tyrell, and Cersei murdered both Margaery and Loras. Unless they've been circulating a story of the wildfire being set off accidentally at coincidentally the exact right time.

I've seen the episode three times now and God, I freaking love it. I'm gonna give it a 9.5/10. It's not quite good enough to be a ten but I have very few problems with it and it contained everything I like to see from a thrones episode. That battle in the end is hands down the best battle apart from the episode nines and "Hardhome".

Cersei kills most of the Tyrells and then immediately declares war on highgarden.
It doesn't even make sense that anyone in the Reach would even be going to King's Landing and especially since Highgarden is in the better position.
Maybe the oaths bannermen pledge is far less significant than has been painted in the past.

Maybe it was the actual armor he was wearing. Either way it's nothing compared to cersei's plot armor. Despite the fact she is responsible for every bad thing that happens to her and the unfortunate people she is tyrant over, she skates right through it all with that same smug constipated smirk. Literally the same damn expression on her face always. At least Euron killed off two sand snakes and hopefully will finish off theon and his butt ugly sister too. Also it's a given he will get killed probably brutally. Until something bad actually happens to the constipated queen of limited range the show is a mediocre joke. Walking a few blocks nude was nothing. The writers are obviously enamored of Headey and everything always working out for her character is a tired joke.

The show simply doesn't explain Euron very well.
For all we know he is wearing the strongest army money (Or maybe via the iron price...) can buy which is why he can withstand damage plus is so reckless.
I just wish someone had aimed for his head.
The thing I do like about him is he is far smarter than he appears which makes for an interesting character.

Crazy new theory is on the table...
The title of the episode is "Stormborn". This of course is one of Daenerys' names, but many times in the past episode titles have double meanings (see Second Sons).
The Prince that was Promised was also prominently discussed in the episode, with the gender-neutrality of the term pointing the way to Dany. But a closely-related prophecy is that of Azor Ahai (it's hotly debated whether these are the same person). Part of the prophecy of Azor Ahai goes: "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone." Melisandre has pointed to Stannis as Azor Ahai in earlier seasons, and of course the description could also fit Dany...
But then the last scene of the episode happened. Yeah, yeah, cool ship battle, Euron becomes a fan hero for wiping out the Sand Snakes, Ellaria is the gift, Team Dany suffers their first casualties, etc... But the big dramatic moment is Theon going back to Reek mode. Now Theon is an interesting character in that he's gone through some major stuff throughout this show, but it's never been clear what his ultimate role might be. I.e., why is he still alive?
So here's the theory... Euron's ship makes a grand entrance via some kind of storm on the water. "Born again" is a term often associated with baptism and it's a commonly used trope to have a character get immersed in water signifying a major transition in their arc. Theon jumps into the sea to escape a battle in which Euron's fleet is throwing fireballs everywhere. Salt. Smoke. Storm. Born (again).
Could Theon ultimately be Azor Ahai?

I didn't really like Ramsay as a villain. Now that i've seen Euron i really miss him. Euron is the most comic-book villain in GOT, and i found him boring as fuck untill now
