Just wondering which TV series most The Prisoner fans prefer, the 1967 series or the 2009 series. I like both, but I prefer the 1967 version.

Hands down the Original for me.
I have the 2009 version on DVD & I've only watched it once. While Jim Caviezel & Ian McKellen gave good performances in their roles, the whole thing came off as an incomprehensible mess to me.

It's been 50 years since the original aired and it still feels fresh, a timeless quality, a beautiful enigmatic visual puzzle. I recently showed an episode to a nephew and asked him to guess the age of it , he is 17, and he thought it was a nineties show. The reboot was diabolical, a waste of Ian McKellen's talent, the whole thing happening deep in a layer of Number 2's wife subconscious..i think.. It looked nice though, the setting for the village was well done. Back to the original, best episodes; AB and C, The Schizoid Man, Hammer Into Anvil. The last episode ,Fall Out was wonderfully crazy, and you could argue it was going on inside the head of The Prisoner, so why do I ridicule the reboot ending?. McGoohan's character was possibly going insane and this was his madness played out, the reboot seemed to suggest the wife had deliberately controlled or created this scenario in her head for some purpose that wasn't explained, an idea of nonsensical rubbish.

I haven't read it,but the graphic novel sequel Shattered Visage explores the idea of 6 having gone/been driven insane by the events of the final episode, which as it turns out was an elaborate hallucinogenic drug-fueled psy-op to ultimately break 6,which it did in a way, though he still didn't tell why he resigned. You can read the summary of it on Wiki. Surprisingly,McGoohan had given his approval to the '09 remake before his death. Must have been in really bad health at the time &/or wasn't given all the details by the producers..

Just finished watching the 2009 remake and thought it was awful. The idea behind it is okay, though not too original and more like Nolan's Inception than the classic Prisoner, but the show is so badly made and just incredibly dull. Caviezel can be a fine actor in the right project like Person Of Interest, but here he struggled with the character, lacking McGoohan's charismatic masculinity and just looking confused most of the time. The Namibian setting also came over as far less fascinating then Portmeirion, I actually assumed first that the whole thing was shot on a studio set it looked so bland.

I loved the original, though have only viewed it once in it's entirety. Have not seen the 2009 remake. Doesn't sound too promising based on the poll results and comments here.

What I saw of the remake series looked interesting, but I never saw enough to properly rate it. The original was an undisputed classic, although I think they should not even have filmed the final episode

I tried watching a few episodes of the original series a few months back. I have no idea why this show was so popular. It's pretty dull.

I didn't know there was a remake. I knew there was a remake but all I saw was a little bit of it on YouTube, so I cannot vote.
