I'm rewatching in along with the new season but am I the only one who couldn't stand Shae even before she lied on the stand? She claimed to love Sansa but didn't give a dayum about having sex with her husband in their rooms at that. She consistently came there when Tyrion asked her not to. IMO she viewed Sansa as weak and wanted to protect her from others but it wasn't real because ultimately she wanted what she had. I wouldn't have been surprised if she had gone to Tywin on her own.
Doesn't excuse Tyrion, after his past experience he shouldn't have taken her home but I'm glad he killed her.

She claimed to love Sansa but didn't give a dayum about having sex with her husband in their rooms at that. Seems an odd thing to be offended about. The marriage was practically arranged to spite Sansa. And nah, I liked Shae. Even after she testified against Tyrion, I was hoping it was part of the plan to save him from execution.

The betrayal made less sense in the show since they made it clear she loved him which is not really evident in the books.

She was a very inconsistent character. Her motivations on why she did things seemed to fluctuate too much, especially regarding Sansa.

Yeah, she was to me the first sign that there was going to be a problem translating from the books to the show.
She clearly cared about both of them, so to completely sell both of them down the river on the basis of being spurned in order to save her life is problematic.
To me, it just seemed more believable in the book that she was devious despite Tyrion falling in love with her.

I perceived shae of both the show and the books to be greedy self interested person who wanted to suck things out of her "giant" of Lannister. In the books it was pretty clear when she frequently wanted the jewelries. I thought it was pretty straightforward that she never loved Tyrion.

No, I don't think it's clear in the show that she never loved him until she lied on the stand.

I don't think it's odd. Regardless of the reasons for the marriage she was still Tyrion's wife and Sansa trusted Shae. How do you think she would have felt knowing they were having sex behind her back but in her bed? Shae overstepped her bounds too much and it was her fault they got caught because no matter how many times he told her not to come to their rooms, she did it anyway.

That ignited her bitterness against him.

Still, how could she be so upset so as to want to see Tyrion & Sansa dead just because she was being shipped away to live as a rich woman?
I guess it does circle back to the notion that Tyrion has horrible tastes in women.

He seems to but he only has access to the worst women. His dad ruined his wife so for all we know, she was decent. To your point though, Shae was trash.

Doubtful. There's not too many women who wouldn't be grateful Ramsay was getting it elsewhere if it meant a night off.

I found the Shae storyline pretty unpleasant especially with Tyrion throttling her at the end. Yeah, she betrayed him but we don't exactly know why, what threats were made, how deeply she felt betrayed by him in the first place etc. I think we were meant to feel she got what she deserved but it just left a nasty taste for me. I've never really warmed to Tyrion since.

I've never really warmed to Tyrion since. Shae was an emotional, not all too smart character. She fell in love and believed Tyrion when he called her just a whore as he was sending her away. She believed she was the only one in love at that point and it echoed in her last words at the trial: "I'm a whore, remember", said not in a spiteful but hurt tone. Put yourself in her shoes at that point: she is a no name with no support and faces probable torture because no one would ever miss her. The only person she cares for cannot help her and she believes he wouldn't even care to. All she has left to save her skin is her old profession and she uses it for what it's worth. "You can't fuck your way out of everything", Tyrion once told her (S2E09), but she had to try once again. We are not meant to feel anything, in spite of the flock going a common way. The story also works the other way around and she is the victim of the man who went on a murderous detour out of pure spite, the man who had accused and cursed a whole city at his trial as if they had all conspired to bring him there. Tyrion went to the bad side for me at his trial and the way he killed both his father and his lover made him unredeemable. I can't wait to see Jaime split him in half.

As i read the books i was hoping they would skip the shae part in the show, because i felt it's too inconsistent. I never expected her to be found on Tywin's bed, of not anything else.

Why didn't you think she'd be in Tywin's bed?

Murder was on his mind the moment he headed there. How else could he escape afterwards? Shae's presence made no difference.

I think he thought his father once again interfered in his life by turning Shae so I do think he was going to kill him anyway. Shae being there was the reason for her murder. His dad told him he'd let him go to The Wall but used Shae to seal his fate IMO and earned his murder.
