I am on the lookout for something new and noticed this in the PSN store For starters I don't know anything about the Yakuza series but from the bits I've seen it looks crazy enough to be a bit of a laugh Is it easy to pick up and play or is it something you have to constantly play to avoid getting lost about what you are doing Is there a difficulty setting, is it a hard game as I'm not exactly the best gamer in the world Is it complicated to navigate the gameworld or is it ok for people who would play casually What game would you compare it with if you had to What are your thoughts on it?

I don't have the game but I've played 1, 3, 4, 5 and Dead Souls. They are fantastic games though parts are outdated.
If you have a big love for Japanese culture then you'd probably like it because the districts are based on real places (I've been to one), it's got a couple real shops, real brands like Boss Coffee and Orangina.
In the convenience store you could even read chapters of Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, Hajime No Ippo etc.
Navigating the world is easy because they are small environments. It's not even a city it's just a district, it's all within running distance.
Yes there are difficulty levels.
No there's absolutely no other game like it, it's very unique. There is nothing to compare it too. It's a open world (in a district) beat em up with RPG aspects and all manner of mini games from playing arcade games, to going on dates to playing golf etc.

So I took the plunge and bought it, and I just started Chapter 2, really enjoying it. These are my thoughts on the game so far, they may only apply to me though,
Pros:
- The feel of the game is beautiful, I love the neon-lit style of the city, and it really feels fresh for me as I've never really played a Japanese heavy styled game before
- Being able to play Sega Classics in the Arcades is tons of fun and a great selection too, I always love games within games for some reason
- The wide range of things you have to do, one second you are doing fist fighting then the next you are singing Karaoke, its great
Neutral:
- The main character (Kiryu) is a bit meh, he is ok just typical of a game character, the usual full of honor in a game full of character with varying shades of honor
Cons:
- The long conversation sequences that go on and on and on, and the frequency of them. It makes it hard to just have a quick game because of this, also I don't always have a lot of time to just sit down and play so I don't get as much hands on gameplay as I would like
- Sometimes the dialogue doesn't happen in some parts (mostly talking with people on the street), in a sense it doesn't matter because I don't speak Japanese but its weird because the environmental sounds and the characters grunts still make sound, just no their voice
- The save system, being only able to save at phone boxes (I think) mean that once you start a mission you sort of have to play it to conclusion which isn't leaves me rushing through it quicker than I would like.
