For me it comes down to this: Why are WE so afraid? And what exactly are afraid of? They're different, but that doesn't make them dangerous. Why do those of us how are not like them have to be a-holes about it? The problem is with US, with how WE react to them. I had hoped our better selves would come out, not our worse selves.
When it comes down to it all they want are the same things we want. To have jobs to support themselves, to love their friends and family, and to live peaceful lives where jerks aren't hounding them or taking their rights away. In short to live their lives.
I admit I have not served in the armed forces. But I imagine that if I was in a trench getting shot at by the enemy and I was wounded, I wouldn't give two craps who it was that was fighting by my side and lifting me up to save my life and get me out of there, black, white, gay, or trans. In that instance even the most devout bible thumper wouldn't say: "I'm dying, but don't touch me, you're a tranny! I'd rather die than have you by my side!" Wouldn't happen. On the contrary, they'd be happy someone was there to help them.
If god created everything under the sun and made humans in his own image then that means he created them too. Who are we to hate what god created? They are part of the equation too.

The short answer is that bigotry and hate are foundational components of the conservative political philosophy which has been adopted as scripture by fundamentalist Christianity. The straight white male is, for them, the top of all creation. In spite of CONS talk of small government and individual freedom, they use Big Government extensively to control the lives - esp. the sex lives - of other people: women, gays, and transgender included.
Why, you ask, do they not also condemn and pass laws against divorce and adultery, which are spoken of extensively in both the Hebrew and Christian scriptures? That's easy to answer. They don't pass those laws because that is what conservative straight white males do. They only attack The Other.

But if thats so clear on this side why is it that there aren't of them who see it too? banning a people, building a wall to stop others, these are racially based fear/hate motivated actions? How is that not clear to them? And why would they want to be that way? I would much rather come at a problem with a mind towards understanding than fear/hate.

Are you "afraid" of asthmatics? Probably not, but asthma is still a very bad thing. It shouldn't be too hard to understand why a lot of people wouldn't like the idea of normalizing something as unhealthy as being born the wrong gender. That's something that happens to frogs born in polluted water.

Flooding the labor supply means lower costs for big business, and higher social costs for working class, a double whammy. The Left used to be against it, for the same reason they were in favor of unions.

Pretty much the only people who accuse bigots of being reasonable in their bigotry are other bigots.
