Looking back at all the members on the old 'Wonder Woman' IMDB boards on IMDB Archive.org who said Wonder Woman was going to be a huge failure 'cause it was a movie of a female superhero that should never be made and not to mention, the so called death of the DCEU I think the movie is very underrated since it not only stuck it to all the sexist haters who were against having a female superhero movie but it also went on to become one of the most successful superhero movies of all time. The real question is if Captain Marvel can compete with it and Batgirl and Wonder Woman 2 'cause DC is set to dominate with female lead comic book movies with Geoff Johns saying they have big plans on screen for more of their female superheroes which will most likely include Supergirl, Black Canary, Birds of Prey, Raven, Starfire, Zatanna, Batwoman, Power Girl etc.

It was more because the DCEU had failed to yield one real success at the time. People were just thinking "You've burned us too often, why should we expect anything good after all the hype?" This was why WW got such a great reception, being a mediocre film after failures made it look better.

It is good, but truthfully toward the lower end of what could be defined as good. Sit back and look at it and there's really nothing special or clever about it.

There are countless movies in existence, so good luck finding one that isn't derivative in some way.

And there is less special here is what I'm saying. It's just a very basic story structure. They do a great job of defining who WW is as a character, and the rest just sort of does as little as possible to accommodate that.

Who Wonder Woman is as a character is important to the theme of the movie, which is meant to be about love and optimism. In general, it was probably one of the most heartfelt superhero films since the 1978 Superman movie. That's what helped it find an audience, and why it's had such strong legs at the box office.

Yes I generally agree and that was the good part about it. There was no other meat on the bone though, that's all I'm saying.

A movie that wasn't expected to be this successful at the BO, and now is close to hitting 800 million worldwide says it all.

No, no one expected WW to be so successful. Not even WB expected WW to be so successful. That's why they initially didn't sign Patty Jenkins for a sequel. So once again, your bullshit, lies, and fabrications have been proven false.

If you're talking international receipts then yes but a film makes more money from domestic sales. GOTG2 also had a higher budget so in the end, WW was more successful.
