The Orville is a comedic parody of Star Trek ( i think ) it was created by Seth McFarland ( the greator of Family Guy and American Dad ) The first episode will air in September.
Anybody gonne give it a go ?
I think i will give it a try based on the trailer i don`t think it looks half bad. But i never make a full judgment on something based on a trailer

Hell yes. This is my big hope for getting a decent new Star Trek-style science fiction series this year!

I'm far more excited about Orville than Discovery. Still, if you would have told me two years ago that a Seth MacFarlene PARODY of Star Trek would be more faithful to the spirit of the franchise than the first official new Star Trek series in 12 years, I would have laughed off that idea.
The bottom line is that Team Orville seems to be saying & doing all the RIGHT things to get Star Trek fans engaged, while Team Discovery is saying & doing all the WRONG things. Even if MacFarlane is talking out his butt, he knows how to market his show to Star Trek's core fanbase. The people behind Discovery are clueless and have alienated hard-core Trek fans in droves.

Unfortunately, the actual Star Trek series coming out this year looks and feels absolutely NOTHING like "Star Trek" is supposed to look and feel from the era its set in. Hence, some of us are more interested in seeing Orville

I know there's a crappy-looking generic sci-fi series with the name "Star Trek" slapped onto it in a cynical marketing exercise, though.

Premiered last night and it was good. Nice balance of action/comedy and classic sci-fi.

Last night's episode was excellent. It was very similar in tone to an average "Next Generation" episode.

'The Orville' is a decent show (even good), but nothing special. However, it's way superior to 'Discovery'...which completely SUCKS. So therefore, I'll take 'The Orville' over 'Discovery' anytime.

Having watched the first three episodes of 'The Orville' I wonder if Seth MacFarlane is copying Tim Daly in his acting??

I am loving The Orville, and as far as I'm concerned it's going from strength to strength.

I was actually shocked at how they jumped into such a serious moral dilemma so quickly. Was a shocking shift in tone, but not unwanted or done poorly.

I think a lot of critics expected a Seth Macfarlane show to be all poop and fart jokes. They're a bit bewildered that he really has set out to do exactly what he said he would - make a real proper science fiction show in the way of Star Trek, but with some humour thrown in.

I've always hoped he'd take the reigns of Trek, considering how much a fan of the franchise he is. It definitely shows. That and the fact that he's got Trek showrunners with him means we'll get the Trek we crave, it'll just have a different name. And it'll likely be more humorous than we've seen in the past.

Yes, apparently he really tried to pitch making a new Trek show, but the studio went with the Discovery crapfest instead.
